This state-of-the-program story in the Chron notes-- with only the slightest whiff of north state homerism-- that Stanford is now a cool destination for football recruits.  ( As if I didn't know that already when I graduated from my Pasadena high school back in the Pleistocene).

And Stanford has a plan.  We bypass all those SEC-mesmerized BCS voters and wait for the national playoff system...then, we strike!  It is all coming together, just as the Emperor has forseen.

Good stuff.  Did you see Chase Thomas' comment about the defense losing 3 people?  Was he referring to himself, Skov, and Murphy (or Stephens?).  Surprised the writer didn't clarify that.  I really hope Trent Murphy comes back unless he's such a high pick it doesn't make sense for him.

Murphy listed as a redshirt junior this season.  Don't know if he's leaving early

I think the senior who might be returning would be Skov.    Hope both he and Toilolo take the Luck view of the NFL.  Both could improve their chances in the draft by returning.  Skov, to continue to rehab his knee and play a season at full Skov speed and intensity...Toilolo to just get to be a better receiver.  He's big, but he's no go-to- guy like Ertz.  Levine needs to do intensive work on simply catching the ball.

Does the official site ever show RS status except for RS seniors? At least based on the few times I've looked players up on gostanford.com, they seemed to always be listed by academic class (i.e. non-RS) unless they are RS seniors.

I think this is right. Stanford has almost always listed players by academic class regardless of eligibility, except in the case of fifth-year seniors. What I do know for sure, though, is that Trent Murphy has another year if he chooses to use it. I'm sure he will.
