It's not really going out on much of a limb to predict that a Stanford Rose Bowl win will be dependent on a stellar defensive performance. Stanford's defense has been generally great all year, with the exception of Arizona and UCLA in the Pac-12 CG.Â
It just seems to me the last two games Stanford and Wisconsin played are going to combine to create a focus and intensity that will yield a defensive performance on par with the performance the defense turned in at Eugene. Stanford played a very poor defensive game by its 2012 season standards in its last game, and Wisconsin played its best offensive game of the season in its last game. These two factors will hone the focus and intensity of Stanford's defense to a level Wisconsin has not seen all season.
If Stanford can hold Oregon and USC to 14 points, there really is not much reason to believe they can't hold a much less explosive Wisconsin offense to something similar. I will be shocked if Stanford's defense gives up more than 17 points.
Hogan and the WRs will have their best game of the season and Stanford will win 31-17.
