Plaschke seems a bit stunned that Stanford players could win with such class. Maybe he actually did some primary research and interviewed a few. It'd be nice to make a convert of him.

Plaschke is a well-known bandwagon jumper. He'll write 1500 words (in tiny little one sentence paragraphs) to state the obvious. The column from this morning may be the first Plaschke piece that I have read in a year.

He missed what my son and I both thought was the LSJUMB BEST moment:Â 93,000 fans signing, along with the band, of the National Anthem with Dr. Barnes's haunting trumpet -solo.
Trivia fact from my son. The arrangment was written in 1963 for Big Game after it was postponed one week following the Kennedy Assasination.

I have refused to read the Plaschke piece because I'm quite happy with my personal 20-year Plaschke embargo. It might've been poetic to give him another chance after this Stanford-Wisconsin game since it was the column he wrote after the last Stanford-Wisconsin game that forced me to stop reading him, but I can't do it. You can't make me.
Please clear the field! The game is not over!

The only reason I can stomach watching ESPN's college football shows is to watch him eat crow after a Stanford victory and New Year's evening he didn't disappoint. While Mark May and Rece Davis John Saunders were going on about Stanford's hard-fought Rose Bowl win, Holtz just sat there looking he wanted to be anywhere else.
Schadenfreude I'll admit but with a Rosy victory in hand, I don't care

Since I don't have any embargo, I read it, you aren't missing anything much, seemed like a piece in a sunday supplement trying to be colorful about county fair or something.

This is the theory: Plaschke is the evil twin of a modestly responsible journalist, who escaped from the dungeon where Plaschke had him tied up, put Plaschke in the trunk of a car (there's an idea!) and wrote this morning's column. Unless this is true, I am confused just as Garvin says.
