Now that he's a Syracuse, did Shafer make the philosophically correct long-term decision to leave Stanford? If his goal is to continue ascending the coaching ladder, is he probably better off now than if he had stayed?
With Derek Mason as DC, Stanford is better off now than had Shafer stayed.

Seems to be the case! But I was more wondering in terms of Shafer's decision calculi.
