The original decision on this electronic texting was the single worst decision in recent memory. Seriously. Before, with many of the NCAA decisions, at least an argument could be made that the NCAA rule was in place to protect student athletes. Some of those justifications were/are weak, but not completely groundless.  The relaxing of the electronic recruiting restrictions could make no such claim.
It was merely for the convenience and benefit of coaches (and ultimately school programs). No one seriously made a claim that receiving weekly, daily, hourly messages from Tennessee, U. Texas, Boise St., USC etc. etc. etc. was of any actual benefit to the high school students who were the targets.
