Like most fans on this board....I know that I have a job during the game.  The Defense needs us to make NOISE...especially on third down.  I do my job and every single time (seriously...EVERY time) I get dirty looks from the folks around me.  I've been told to "keep it down."  I don't talk much during the game (I'm too busy watching the game).  I don't curse (Hey...there are kids around).  I don't say mean or rude things.  I just cup my hands over my mouth and let out a loud "DEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" when our defense needs our help.

And folks hate it.

I wasn't that loud this past Sunday. It's San Jose State. I was with my 67 year old grandpa. We were up high and sitting around a bunch of old people.

Now when I go with my younger friends for the big games, thats when I sit in the student section or right near them/the band. We're loud as can be and we fit right in. I even have put on the Skov warpaint before. I feel like I get people around me to be louder as well. I think I'll help make the stadium louder come the 21st.

Shoot sometimes the players even knowledge me from the field. One frosh lineman pointed at me last year. The religious kid who reminded us of Tebow.

Big ups to anyone who leads cheers from the stands.  Sometimes you gotta take the lead because goodness knows the cheer squad isn't always going to be effective.

Everything was unintelligible on the sound system in my section (131 row Q). We got multiple echoes that drowned out everything but the first couple words of each announcement. Really disappointing, as the sound was perfect in my section last year (maybe a bit too loud, but absolutely clear), and they supposedly "improved" it this year.

My seats are also in 131.  My wife and I also could not understand a thing the announcer said all game.  OTOH, I heard from others with top level seats that they were directly under a speaker and, although they could understand clearly, it was way too loud.

Time to find a new sound engineer for the stadium.

The speaker challenges for y'all in 131 are so strange.  I sit in the second level and never have had a problem hearing the announcements.  When I took my kids with me we sat in all kinds of sections (see GA seating problem threads) over the last few years, but we were always in the second level.  Never had a problem hearing any of those PA announcements in any second level section..

However, I have been to games at Memorial Stadium and the Rose Bowl and thought the sound was terrible.  In truth, almost all PA announcements during a game are worthless, predictable and distracting.  Pepsi, AT&T, Stanford Federal Credit Union, blah, blah, blah. 

It is rather hard to get the same reasonable sound level for everyone, but after attending events in several college stadiums I am confident that Stanford Stadium is well above average in sound quality and consistency.  The better the sound gets the more likely it is that the sound will be dominated by very loud and annoying commercials (see Husky Stadium or the LA Coliseum).  I would definitely prefer nothing to crystal clear PA advertisements.

Not understanding the LSJUMB announcer....
Now that is a different matter.  I have NEVER understood the LSJUMB commentary clearly when they were on the road.  At home games I know almost no one in our section can understand what they are saying.  I am often left to repeat the general theme for those around me, but often just let everyone sit in confusion because the comments are not THAT funny. 

If the goal is to get audio that is clear for LSJUMB stadium communications, I would recommend that LSJUMB get a speaking coach (slow down, enunciate, etc.), print the script on the ribbon, and give everyone headphones.
