The Cardinal\'s Jackson Cummings actually stays home and is in position to recover the kick -- until he is leveled by reserve linebacker Boseko Lokombo. Tracking the ball like a bloodhound, Beard lets it travel the requisite 30 feet, then snatches it out of the air on its third hop.

I haven\'t seen the replay.  If the lone man to recover had waved his hand for fair catch (which I don\'t even remember he had time to think about), then that wouldn\'t have been legal either...I, too, would like some serious clarification here.

You can only call a fair catch if the ball hasn\'t touched the ground. Once the ball has hit the ground, any player on the receiving team is fair game. However, if the ball hasn\'t traveled 10 yards yet, the kicking team is not allowed to hit anyone on the receiving team. I believe that is the clarification Harbaugh is looking for on what he thought was an illegal block.
