While Herbstriet was saying stuff like "Oregon needs to really dominate tonight to hold off Florida State," and basically giving Stanford no chance, like every other ESPN expert from Colin Cowherd to Mel Kiper Jr. to Todd McShay to Brian Griese, to Mark May, Palmer was the only one respecting Stanford after witnessing them grind the ducks into mush.

He said Stanford should be viewed as a BCS Championship Game contender because the Utah game was such an anomaly; Stanford lost its identity in that game, but showed the world what kind of team it is when it plays Stanford football.

I do think it is quite fortunate for Stanford that the Oregon game was a Thursday following a bye week.  They can now watch other teams play this Saturday and put the Oregon game out of their minds.  And it probably doesn't hurt that USC plays Sonny's Sad Sacks this week.  Nothing gets a team's attention like playing a team coming off a dominant win.  USC is going to come into the game next week 7-2 and quite possibly even in the BCS Top 25.  Stanford will be focused.

They can mail it in against Sonny's Sad Sacks the following week as they get ready for N.D.

I watched Palmer last night after I got home from the game and thought the same thing.  Poll-ick on the other hand, so wanted to jump in and slam us whenever he was given the chance to speak.  "What's his deal?!"    I will be very curious to see how we do in the polls this weekend?  Taking 3 of 5 from a very talented Oregon program is quite a stat.  Time for OSU and FSU to slip up.

Hat's off to Skov and co for their great defensive pressure.  His tomahawk on DAT was a major difference maker and his ability to fly to the ball and make the tackle in space continue to impress.  Should be P12 defensive player of the week, imho!    Defense wins championships, but Hogan stepped up nicely last night.  Great throw to Rector and some wonderful running when we needed it, even if it looked a little like stumblin' and bumblin!
