...on the politics of BIG TIME college athletic administration.  This is about Texas, but it is very well written and using the Mack Brown situation to illuminate how and why decisions are made.  And, it features Andrew Luck's daddy.  The second part also digs into the Mack Brown situation but--let's be honest now-- it gets boring after a while watching Sandy Barbour and Sonny Dykes  continually walk into swinging doors.  A peek at the politics of dumping Mack Brown is a welcome diversion.

Muir's job is to keep the machine well-oiled and ticking along while replacing certain parts as necessary.  Thankfully nothing at Stanford is as in dire straits as football is at Texas, though there are some varsity sports at Stanford that are underperforming relative to other Stanford sports.  Meanwhile at Texas, as mentioned in that article, there's a lot of housecleaning that needs to be done on the women's sports side of things.

My ideal sports world: all Stanford sports are performing above the average D1 program in that sport.  Ideally championship level.  We surpass U$C and UCLA quickly in NCAA championship count.  Director's Cups will never threaten to leave Stanford.  All our student-athletes go off to do great and wonderful things.  I never have a problem buying a bowl game ticket.
