We are in "Stormtrooper White" for the Rose Bowl
Rats. Can someone remind me again which ranking led it that guidance? Thx

Last time Stanford won back-to-back Rose Bowls, we were wearing the all-whites. Let's do it again.

Stanford wore white jerseys with red pants in the 1996 Sun Bowl. We had half-white road uniforms in those days, rather than the all-whites we had in the 1972 Rose Bowl and have now.

Let's hope we represent the Stormtrooper White better than these guys did.

Oh man -- images like this really serve to remind me that I'm no longer a young alumnus. When I first saw this picture I immediately thought -- wow -- that's an old picture, I wonder what ancient game that's from. Then my heart sank as I realized that I was in fact a sophomore at the time. It seems like only yesterday that I was basking in the glory of having barely passed Stats 116 and witnessing a 35-0 beat-down of MSU. But clearly it was eons ago.Â
Part of me wants to blame HDTV and advances in uniform and pad technology for causing replays of late 90s era Stanford football to look so dated. But all I need to do is check out an episode of Friends to confirm that A LOT of time has gone by since then.

I think I'm definitely in the minority, but I still like that red and white look for the road unis.
Please clear the field! The game is not over!

Two big "amens" to two things in this cool thread:
1-- The little-block-S helmets *are* damn cool and the idea of doing a throwback uniform to that helmet sometime would be a crackup. If nothing else it would make our line look like they have gigantic craniums
2-- "Underdog uniforms" -- that comment sold me 100%. I just lost the last bit of my dislike for the whites.

interesting to see the varying opinions on the stormtrooper white, because they are hands down my fav unis from the past few years. basic yet sharp, and got a classic feel

Love the all-white uniforms. They always make a cool contrast to the uniform of the opponent. Also love the home uniforms. Not a fan of helmet stickers, but as long as they're going to stay, isn't it time to replace the axes with roses?

Still mulling over the stripe/no stripe issue, but I do like our away whites either way.

The white uniforms look great. I would like it even better if they completed the retro look with red stipes on the sides of the pants and black shoes. That 72 team looks intimidating coming out on the field.

I like the all-white look as long as they keep the red stripe off. Unless we can get a beer sponsorship out of the deal.
It's like Penn State when Penn State was Penn State.

Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working .I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. Peter Gibbons

Stanford's current uniforms are a great reflection of the character of the team - classic, no-flash, and understated. I would not change a thing about them - home or away. I would personally favour getting rid of the black uniforms they wear once or twice a year. Let Oregon and whoever else wear their flashy, fast-food, gimmick uniforms all they want, which go along with their garbage football - that is not reflective of the nature of this team, and I hope never will be.
