Wow.  How bad can it be?  In a league that shields abusers of every stripe, felons and murders as long as they are winning, and you have a team willing to part with a coach on the cusp of making you a perennial SB contender?  No wonder Bowlsby was willing to let him go.  As a fan, I was tired of the drama.  The NFL actually has limits?  Who would have thunk it!  :o

Whenever I hear someone say they backed out on an individual because they might be a little too high maintenance, particularly when that individual is not an experienced high performer, I get reaaaaaaal nervous.  I'm thinking of the drafting of Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers years ago, at least in part because Alex was viewed as less of a pain-in-the-ass.  But my perspective is that the most successful QBs and head coaches are frequently pains-in-the-rear.  Strong personality Mike Nolan didn't like Rodgers' attitude, thought he could live with Alex, so he took Alex.

Well, of course there was another coach before Harbaugh who wasn't able to do as much with the talent as Harbaugh.  The before/after comparison is pretty striking so either Harbaugh's timing is impeccable, or he actually can coach.  If you add the evidence from Stanford, he's been with the 49ers since 2005, but the GM only since 2011.  Since that coincides with Harbaugh's hiring it is tough to make conclusions, but you'd expect the GM's impact to take a bit longer than a coach's.

That being said, we have no idea who else Harbaugh has pissed off in the 49ers organization. it all depends on whether Harbaugh has York's support, no?
