CornFed's post reminds me of an elaborate joke that was cut of Animal House. Larry Kroger, the pledge character played by Tom Hulce, had a deep secret: In childhood, he had somehow spilled hot tar on his penis, which left a patchwork pattern there. Early in the film, he discloses this to the other, super-dorky, pledge, Dorfman.

When it comes time for the fraternity to offer pledges, Kroger gets in but Dorfman is turned down. But you can't do this! he cries. I'm a legacy! The frat guys are unmoved. Desperately, Dorfman offers up the secret of Kroger's deformed penis. The frat brothers, impressed by such profound perfidy and happy to be gifted with a potentially humiliating bit of information, relent.

What follows is the initiation scene described by CornFed, which ends with Bluto telling Kroger, "You will be Pinto." Why Pinto, Kroger asks. "Because you have a spotted dong!!" the frat brothers shout in unison.

This was all shot, but Chris Miller, one of the screenwriters, told me that Ivan Reitman, the producer, got all squirmy at any mention of penises. At the very last minute, he ordered everything related to the spotted-dong shot cut. The only serious problem that posed was the initiation scene, which had to stay; otherwise, you have no idea why these guys are being address as "Flounder" and "Pinto" for the rest of the film. To salvage it, they did one quick little reshoot of Bluto shouting, "Why not?!!!" and spliced it in place of the "Because you have a spotted dong!" shot.

I relate all this to suggest your obvious new handle, SpottedDong.

I actually bought and read the Animal House book when I was 16, and that story is in the book almost exactly as you describe, with one small exception: the brothers actually ask Dorfman if he knows anything about Larry that Larry wouldn't want them to know.  Dorfman doesn't take the initiative, not exactly, but he doesn't hesitate either.
