Ive reread Garvins history post several times, each time with a smile and feelings of nostalgia.
Yes, I was among the early posters here. I would have remained but my obsession with Stanford was with its futureits then-present looked too dismaland That Other Site covered recruiting well. Chad and I soon teamed up to augment that coverage, Chad relying on his link to Stanfords then-recruiting coordinator and I relying on mine to Allan Wallace.
I wish it was my adventures with former Dollies that figured in my departure. The better explanation for my disappearance is that my combination of ADD and dyslexia led me to forget the Cardboard existed. I do recall, however, alerting the Booties that I would be bringing my Brazilian girlfriend to a game in October 2002, adding my promise that her saunters up and down to section 212 would highlight the game (there was little competition for that title then.) Alas, a week later I deserted The Walk for a too-young blonde with a forgettable walk and ass. It perfectly captures Miss Rios narcissism that it took her three weeks to realized I had broken up with her, She assumed I had to have been out of town.)
I apologize to any of you attended that game partly for her promised walk. In my defense, she would have been worth your ticket and therefore was worth your risk.
Garvins reference to the Texas Whooping meltdown eminded me that the most preposterous post-mortem was written by. . .Hulk. He insisted that Stanford abolish almost everything connected to the program. He may even have added the Walk. No more Tree. Fire Ty tomorrow. Keep the band but add at least 25 scholarship musicians and cut back the bullshit. My list was so long that I cannot be sure it did not include the uniforms, and I think I recommended we drop down to Division II. Honest.
I may have a no future in posting because Stanfords success has turned me soft. I no longer follow recruiting because I feel certain it will take care of itself. Plus I need to invest less in the games; Ive not broken any televisions yet but only because I always have struggled to find strike zones.Â
I do look forward to seeing to this years Utah game with The Greatest Dollie Evec, as well as Jon Haskins if he yields to my constant coaxing, and top the chance to meet any of you whom I have not offended too much already. Can there by any former Bootie., current Cardboarder, and season ticket holder who has met only one fellow poster (Slide)?Â
And thanks to the board maestros and the posters responsible for this Boards exceptional signal-to-noise ratio. A special thanks for the tips on music and movies.
Oh, and one more big thing. I currently am involved in creating a series of Stanford polyptychsfour-section paintings. To date, the painter had done studies of a wonderful night game shot; Plunkett-Vataha, Hoo Tow. and The Claw. The Church is the likely focus of the largest of the four final images chosen.
If you are interested, let me know. These works of art appeal to me more than any single piece of Stanford memorabilia I have seen, and I cannot imagine I will be alone when other fans see them
