They obviously did not watch the game at all or even bothered with reviewing the stat line. Maybe because it was on PAC12 networks? ::)
At least the coaches poll seemed more reasonable lining up with actual performance.

I don't think there is any disrespect intended. We just did what we were supposed to do. I'm sure that when other teams blow some no-name FCS teams many of you don't think much of it either.
We actually got one more point than we had last week, so dropping a couple of spots was more a matter of coincidence.
Baylor, for instance, blew out an FBS team 45-0 as well, but lost 4 points in the poll. Then, they happened to stay put. Let the conspiracies begin ;)

As was totally predictable, the line has moved from Stanford -4, to -3 and some places -2.5. None of the smart money will come in until all the U$C fanboys have bet the line down. So watch for what happens on Friday and Saturday to see what people who make their living on this stuff think.

Unless the whole of SC contracts bubonic plague or Kessler and the wide receivers and the secondary all have high ankle strains after leaping off balconies to save fake live nephews, this game is going to be a tough one. Stanford should win and could enjoy a blow out (if they keep their concentration in the 2nd half), but I'm not booking my tickets to the Playoffs until after the game.....

I don't think it's been mentioned here, but with South Carolina losing last weekend, Stanford now has the longest home winning streak in FBS. I think the line is under valuing that aspect of the game.

It is obvious why Stanford dropped - it is not in the SEC. Stanford was passed by Georgia, Texas A&M and LSU.
Still, each of those schools recorded a win over a (seemingly) quality opponent in week 1. Let's see if Stanford is afforded a similar bump if it beats USC.

While I generally feel that we are overlooked and SEC teams get over-rated, I do feel that rewarding teams that beat quality opposition is how rankings SHOULD work.
We looked good but against a creampuff opponent. Georgia, LSU, and A&M all beat good teams and deserve a boost, though I would argue that some of them were over-ranked to begin with. Even Alabama and FSU, who beat good teams in unimpressive ways, should be rewarded for the victory, not punished for the lack of style points.
Now if we beat Unabashedly Scamming Charlatans and still don't jump, then I'll be :o

Discussion on Nov. 1 may show that preseason biases and poll seeding did matter. C'est la vie...another year, another crop of the same issues :)
