An offense with Ty Montgomery, Michael Rector (who I believe had no catches against UW), Francis Owusu, Barry Sanders, Kelsey Young, and Christian McCaffrey should be able to make tons of yards in space. It's one that on paper you would say has a lot of weapons. Yet Fox analyst Dave Wannstedt, was decrying Stanford's lack of play-makers after the game.
Everything the offense does is slow. Even Hogan doesn't look as quick as he did his first two years when running. No quick slants. No sprint draws. No quick hitches or hitch and goes. Too many plays that take too long to develop.
It sure seems to this observer that it is way more about the offensive concepts not putting these guys in positions to make plays, far more than it is the fact Stanford lacks play makers on offense, that is producing so few points.Â
What do others think?
