There's a plus/minus category in the stats tool.
McCall +18. Amber +11. Karlie +0. Greenfield and Johnson+4. Roberson -9 and Bonnie -11.
It seems we got into trouble when we went into the bench. And Bonnie's plus-minus is interesting because she only took one shot, missing a three. But this seems to argue for more minutes for Bird. She only played 14. I'd like to see a lineup, if healthy, of
- Amber / Roberson / Green (and again, is Jasmine even with the team and/or healthy?)
- Thompson/ K Samuelson / Amber (when Lili's healthy)
- K Samuelson / B Samuelson / Taylor
- Kailee Johnson / Greenfield / Kaylee Johnson
- McCall / Kaylee Johnson / Picknell
Taylor's three-point shooting is so hot and cold, she doesn't stretch the floor very far at the three. She was good on the drive, bad from anywhere outside about 8 feet, and not very solid on defense and the d-boards tonight. And she missed what could've been a devestating front end of a 1-and-1 that could've pushed Stanford out to a 12 point lead with 5 minutes left. She had a nice driving layup before that, but if she's playing at the three, and the other team is in man-to-man, she should be CAMPED OUT in the post - she's got 3-4 inches on her defender almost all of the time.
And Bird at least tries to play an offensive inside game.
Well, chalk it up to what promises to be a long line of learning experiences this year. I think we might be pretty good by February, if everyone stays healthy. But we really need to get some more balanced scoring - tonight, Amber and Karlie had 41 of our 70 points. And the bench only scored 9, with only one field goal.
