Interesting observation about tweaking the formula because about 5 years ago the NACDA finally seemed to stop changing the formula every year.
FWIW - Stanford is #4 after the first NACDA press release. Â Though with big points in Football, Women\'s Soccer and Women\'s Volleyball sure to hit the tally, Stanford will almost certainly be #1 at the end of the Fall.
And the best news is that with Stanford #4 in the BCS standings, we will not hear any crazy ideas about what would happen if they tripled the value of football.

College Cup, Probable high WBB finish and the normal bounty of NCAA team titles will be more than enough. Â The Stanford Women\'s teams are clearly the best in the land. Â That is not even up for debate, IMHO.
The Men will depend on the MBB winner.
If the MBB winner is just a BB school (Pitt, Kansas, Kansas State) then Stanford likely will win. Â If the MBB winner is decent in other things (Duke, Ohio State, Florida or Texas) then Stanford might lose.
The good news is that the teams ahead of Stanford in football (Oregon, Auburn, TCU) really have no chance of winning.
My hope is that Stanford wins both and the Capital One people give up their expensive attempt to grab glory away from the NACDA.

Ah, basketball :) Â I\'ve been accustomed to seeing MBK as men\'s basketball and MBB as men\'s baseball.
Duke is looking fairly strong right now, but thankfully their football stinks and Stanford women\'s sports will likely end up better than Duke women\'s sports at the end of the year.

Baseball is a 3X sport, so baseball will be important too. Â
On the Women\'s side. Â Volleyball, Basketball and Softball are all 3X sports. Â Seriously! Â Why even bother.
What is curious is that the tagline is "Every Sport Counts". Â Of course, not every sport is equal, but really every sport does not count. Â There are 36 NCAA sports that could/should count, but Capital One is only tracking 26 in the tally.
So 10 sports don\'t count at all. Â The tagline should be, "Every sport counts, unless Stanford has a decent history then it doesn\'t count at all."
Men\'s Water polo! Â Never heard of it. Â Oh, does Stanford have one of the best programs? Â Oops!
Women\'s Water Polo! Â Huh, their is a girl version too. Â Oh, Stanford is one of the two great programs there? Â Hmmm..our bad.
Men\'s Volleyball! Is that a sport? Â Oh, is Stanford the current champ? Â Ooops.
Fencing! Â Hmm. Â Oh, Stanford finishes in the top 10? Â Missed that. Â Sorry!
