Actually that's the appeal of indoor frisbee. Having the disc go careening around the hallway adds a good bit of unpredictability and fun to it!

It beats the hallway bowling some of my dorm-mates engaged in toward the end of finals one year before the bowling alley in Tressider closed.  I know finals weren't over because I was trying to sleep before taking my last two finals the next day.  I yelled some obscenities at them so they moved to the other end of the hall but I could still hear the loud banging and crashing sounds.  I can't recall what they were using for pins, but they ended up having to pay for the damage to several doors.

They nailed a target (actually a cheeseburger) on a bulletin board at the end of the hall, then went down toward the other end of the hall and started shooting at it. At exactly the wrong moment, an unsuspecting soul walked out of a dorm room into the hallway and took an arrow to the arm. I suspect that may have been the only arrow wound they saw in the student health center that year . . . .

Which was sort of fine, since we were nowhere near it when it fell, except that my roommate picked up the largest piece and then accidentally dropped it and big, heavy shards flew into our feet. I'd never actually had blood spurt out of a wound before...

Anyway, I eventually figured out that the thing only fell because half the screws holding it in were missing. The housing people were pretty mad at us until I mention that this was an obvious safety issue that they ignored for god knows how long, then they seemed content to let it die.

It's fine at a range.  But in an uncontrolled space, I'm sure the police would have had a cow.  A 35lb bow shooting outdoor arrows...yeah, that can kill someone.

18 year old males are darn sure they are indestructible until they find they aren't.  As the father of a 16 year old male and a 21 year old male I'm living through that age again right now.  The risk assessment trait must develop sometime in the late 20s because they sure don't have it now.

By the way, I'm sure I got some of the facts wrong so please correct me if you know better.

It was during these games that we realized a key to winning football.  Football commentators in the 70's were obsessed with "momentum"; you really could not keep an announcing gig without mentioning momentum at least three times during a game.  It naturally occurred to us that it was an odd concept, because momentum was so easily lost, then sometimes regained--or not. 

But we decided we'd buy the concept.  From this, we decided that the key to winning a football game was to make the other guys less tenacious.  This led to the concept of "detanicifying" your opponent, and in in turn to understanding the vital role in winning football of "detenacionization." 

All of us were sober that night, by the way.  But there may not have been a more sober college dorm anywhere, outside of Provo, Utah, than Lagunita in the early 70's.  A wild night was when you ordered a second pizza.
