Stanford Athletics will have some tickets available, probably with preference for season ticket holders.

I don't have tickets yet, but made my plane and hotel reservations.

That must be a special picture for your family.  Lutkin Hall was built ~1941 so your picture is from another building.  My great grandfather started teaching at Northwestern in 1981 , 1891 the music school was a conservancy then, it became the school of music in 1895.

Tix through Stanford will be in a corner but you would sit with other Stanford fans.


There will be oodles of tickets available on gameday.  NU has trouble selling out unless one of the B1G powers is in town (Wisconsin, tOSU, Michigan, Nebraska) and even then it's opposing fans as much as home fans filling the empties.


Plus it's Labor Day weekend so a number of locals will be out of town

Chicago native here and a Kellogg grad (don't worry I will be wearing red on gameday!).


One thing I always recommend to out of towners is the Architecture Boat Tour on the Chicago River.

Others to see - Art Institute, top of the Sears Tower (no, it's NOT the Willits Tower), Shedd Aquarium and Museum of Natural History, Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park.  If the Cubs are in town and you've never been to Wrigley by all means GO!  It really is a different kind of ballpark.  I recommend Gino's East for Chicago style pizza.  Twin Anchors in Old Town for ribs.  Northwestern campus is a nice long walk but a good mix of nice old buildings, newer ones, and beautiful lakefront.  Museum of Science & Industry is an absolute must see and make sure you get tickets to see the U-boat.

If you're feeling adventurous, go out into some of the neighborhoods for some real authentic ethnic foods and culture - Taylor Street for Italian, Bridgeport for Irish in particular.

If you can get tickets for Second City, definite must.  At least half of the cast will be on Saturday Night Live in the next few years.

I spent quite a bit of time in Chicago the early 80's on business, and in my opinion it was then and still is is a world-class city.  I can't speak for the food now, but it was great 30 years ago and it is probably better now, from what I hear.  The architecture (general and specific) is worth the visit as are the museums.  As winflop says, you MUST visit the U-boat at the Museum of Science and Industry.  Even though it is our "enemy's" boat and not "ours," you cannot walk through it without beginning to begion to understand how much bravery it took to serve on such ships.

And, vis a vis architecture, another MUST NOT MISS is the Tribune Tower whose street level foundations are sprinkled with ~150 remnants stolen/given to the Tribune over the past century from such buildings as Santa Sofia, the Pyramids at Giza, Ankor Wat, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, etc. etc. etc.  Ah for the good old days of Robber Baronism.........
