I wonder if this stat is as much an endorsement of Holder as Adebo.

I posted on another thread about Adebo. He's no doubt helped by Holder and others, but Adebo's star (NFL) quality stands tall all by itself. Maybe because he's young, but it seems like teams keep throwing at him a lot, not seeming to notice his arms are 12 feet long when needed. He's the real deal and I'm not surprised by that stat.

Agree with others here that Paulson's play so far has been mighty, mighty impressive indeed. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing how KJ and our receivers do against Justin Love and Byron Murphy in our upcoming games. First things first, though - Justin Love, come on down...

Yes, it is. It is worth noting that with the game on the line in overtime, Oregon/Herbert never challenged Holder. Adebo was challenged first, second, and third down an successfully defended all three passes.

I think probably Meeks -- his best full year, for my money, was his first. That year, he played nickel. And while I've got great respect for a lot of Murphy's game he's been roasted a lot against SC and Oregon. That spot looks like a weak one.

The next step for Adebo will be for Anderkina to trust him in press man coverage. Will they put him on an island? He gave big cushions to Oregon WRs and Herbert ate it up. Still, Herbert had to make some brilliant throws to avoid Adebo knocking several more passes away.
I told a buddy of mine I think Adebo will be Stanford's best CB since Darrien Gordon. And yes, that includes Sherman, who while good at Stanford, became better at the NFL level given his position switch from WR to CB. He just became better with more reps at the position.

This is conjecture on my part, but I think that our injuries at safety resulted in Anderson/Akina adjusting the game plan to play off the receivers. Herbert had been struggling a bit with accuracy, and the receivers had struggled with drops (why didn't they do that against us). I suspect the thinking was that with less experienced safeties, you don't want Oregon to beat you over the top. It was clearly a mistake, but we started playing tighter in the second half. And in overtime, where the field limits the downside of of teams beating you over the top, we played a lot tighter.
But I agree that our cornerbacks are talented enough to play tight coverage going forward and the game plan should take that into account.

Adebo has made a ton of great plays. He also has appeared a lot in run support, leading to him being tied for third on the team in tackles.
At this point he still makes some mistakes, however.
I'd say he has more potential than Holder, but not certain he is a better corner right now.
The problem is that after these two there is a considerable drop in coverage skills of our corners. Thus, if Meeks were still here I think it would help our nickel coverage tremendously. [And my guess is Adebo would be the nominal nickel because of those frosh mistakes, but he'd likely play just about even snaps.]
