Congrats 81 on being chosen for those perks for the game. That's really awesome!
I assume in your write-up you meant Nadia when you wrote that she is out for the year with an ACL instead of Maya. I froze when I read that sentence, but you referred to Lindy's answer about Maya's uncertain timetable later on, so I think you are referring to Nadia and accidentally wrote in the wrong name.
Going forward, it sounds like we are deepest at wing, especially with Lexie's return. We have both Hull sisters, Jerome and Carrington plus Brewer and Moschkau in a pinch as well.
Obviously, the post position has gotten the most attention in the last 48 hours with Maya sitting out this weekend and Nadia's season-ending injury. I really hope Maya's return is closer to the shorter range of Lindy's estimate rather than the longer end. We need all the interior help we can get especially playing Oregon's frontline of Hebard and Sabally next month. As other people have mentioned, not only Maya's presence but her development since last season could be the key to a long postseason run on both ends of the court, which is only made more urgent and critical with Nadia's injury. We are painfully thin in the 4/5 position and it is now more essential than ever that Alanna stay out of foul trouble as we've seen the effects of Maya & Nadia's absences today.
However, the other news which has not gotten as much attention is the effect of Alexa's departure from the team. With Marta still injured and Anna just coming back herself from injury, we only have Kiana and Jenna for full-time guards. We saw how quickly Tara pulled Anna and Jenna from the game after they committed two silly turnovers when Williams was getting a rest. Kiana might have to play nearly the full 40, especially in close games and that could have a deleterious effect not only at the end of the game, but down the stretch run as well.
I was hoping that Jenna would have a similar immediate impact as the Hull sisters have, given her national accolades as a senior, but it looks like she might not be as far along, especially offensively as we have hoped.
As a last note, I don't know about y'all, but my heart skips a beat every time that one of our players falls and especially when they are slow to get up. Every hard drive and tumble during the game today put me on pins and needles
