Stanford wins 3-2! What a sensational performance by Carolyn Lee. Stanford improves
to 27-6 on the season, 5-1 in Pac-12 play. Stanford has clinched a winning record
for the first time since 2014. Hats off to Coach Allister, her staff, and the players
on continuing to exceed expectations time and time again. Card improve to 4-0
in road games this year. Just some great stuff.

Monumental win Bob. On road at top 40 team (bubble team) that is playing for tournament hopes, especially given
the weather in Corvallis is expected to be really bad the next two days. Not sure if we would stay through Monday,
but there may be another conference game cancellation.
The ump's call on 0-2 in Pancino's last at-bat was ridiculous. That was strike 3 all the way. Also, the OSU scorekeeper
robbed us of a couple of hits, calling them errors. Obviously, the most important thing is the final scoreline, but Hannah
and Emily got robbed of hits.

Bit of a hard luck case for Pancino, however, since she was pulled immediately after an infield error that kept the game alive and cost her a save. And good to see her consistently getting ahead of the hitters late in such a tight game. She consistently threw first-pitch strikes and had at least a couple, if not more, of OSU's hitters in an 0-2 hole.

Bit of a hard luck case for Pancino, however, since she was pulled immediately after an infield error that kept the game alive and cost her a save. And good to see her consistently getting ahead of the hitters late in such a tight game. She consistently threw first-pitch strikes and had at least a couple, if not more, of OSU's hitters in an 0-2 hole.

played some exceptional defense to ensure that they were caught. All but one weren't unexpected defensive plays per se,
but they were also not routine.

So we're a mere QUARTER of the way into the 2019 Pac-12 season and the number of conference wins earned by this year's team now exceeds the number achieved in THREE FULL SEASONS under Hanson & Co.
Wish I could unearth a mammoth post that I submitted here a couple-three years ago stressing the need for the "Dartmouth Duo" (as I sometimes referred to Hanson & Shaw) to hightail it out of town, it being imperative that the reins of the SB program be transferred as soon as humanly possible from the hands of the "greenies" to a coaching staff that "bleeds Cardinal red" (this quoted phrase from that post being the source of my screen name, "Cred," incidentally). Can't recall the exact wording used in putting the finishing touches on that post, unfortunately, but that (as described above) was the idea.
Well, the long-awaited has occurred: Glory be, we now have just such a coaching staff. And to state the obvious, it's no coincidence that happy days are here again.
Congratulations and continued success to the players and coaches.

I remember at the beginning of the season I would have been thrilled with a winning record, because that would undoubtedly have us
in the conversation for (and likely in) the NCAA tournament. Pac-12 is a bit top-heavy this year, so I think we will need a few more wins than
the bare minimum winning record, but with 19 games left in the season, and great opportunities for both Pac-12 and non-conference wins, this team will almost undoubtedly be dancing in the NCAA tournament in May.

Game #2 is rained out (honestly as expected). Not quite sure why the game couldn't have been
moved to noon, as there was a ~4 hour window to get the game in.
Game #3 scheduled for 1pm (it honestly looks like a rainout too, because the weather report
is just as bad for Monday; weather report looks awful for tomorrow too).

Well, as I predicted on Friday, Game #3 ends up being canceled as well. Not sure you
can refer to 1 game as a series, but Stanford leaves Corvallis undefeated.
With 3 Pac-12 games now canceled, and 6 total games on season, Coach Allister

It’s both sad and terrible that we have lost three very very possible wins that won’t be made up.
This puts tremendous pressure on us to win about 4-5 games against UCLA, Arizona, ASU and Washington
Hope I’m wrong with the pressure and that we can win those games

No Bob, you are spot on, per usual. There was not much that could have been done regarding today's game
(since tomorrow's weather is also supposed to be awful), but Oregon State managed to get in a home game
in baseball against Utah that started at noon yesterday. How could that not have been done for softball as well?
Both teams' student-athletes have enough responsibilities to manage, that I expect as a fan that the schedule will be managed
and adapted to ensure that we are essentially not wasting their time with rainouts. If I can tell
with my phone and the weather.com app when the breaks in the rain will occur, I can assure you others with even more
weather data at their disposal can plan accordingly.
I don't think that the pressure is on per se to make the tourney, but that pressure is there as far as being a regional host.
As I said at the beginning of conference play, I really think we will need to finish with a winning conference record
to have a chance. With three rainouts against two of the worst teams in conference, our odds have essentially not improved
regarding finishing with a winning conference record since the start of Pac-12 play, despite a 5-1 start to Pac-12 play.
As of right now, using Massey probabilities, I am projecting a 34-16 or 33-17 finish, with a 10-11 record in Pac-12 play
with my simulation model. Either should be perfectly fine for making the tourney, but I have a feeling we will fall just
short of a top 16 seed if we end up with a losing record in Pac play.
The weather report looks fine for this weekend against Utah and the midweek with Santa Clara, so hopefully,
it is a 4-0 week to all but lock up the tourney berth.

OSU baseball got in a double header yesterday according to their schedule. A 12 & 330. There was a 4-5 hour time frame with no rain. Why is it that games that are to be televised on Pac 12 can’t be changed or adjusted for weather but the SEC televised games do it all the time? There were a few SEc series moved around this weekend because of rain? Just wondering. Those were needed wins.
