That's the 3rd time in 4 years that Stanford was eliminated in a deciding match that went extra holes. Lauren Kim lost in the finals in 2016 on the 20th hole. Madie Chou lost in the semis in 2017 on the 19th hole. Man, this team is so close. Keep knocking on the door and some year the breaks will fall Stanford's way again.

Very true. Mariah Stackhouse came back from 2 down with 2 to play and then won on the 19th hole. It was epic! I hope that comeback did not use up all of the good mojo the gods might have for Stanford.

Arkansas and Arizona will be decimated by graduation and Wake loses
its outstanding ace, Jennifer Kupcho, who almost lapped the field
to win the Augusta Women's Amateur.
Duke loses Carta, the 2015 NCAA champion,
but adds the player currently ranked fifth in the country 
and first in the '19 class.


USC, Stanford, Texas and Duke are the likely 1, 2, 3, 4
in this fall's preseason rankings.


Seems a very large gap between those four teams
and the rest, pending the announcements
of incoming freshman from countries outside the US.

and still opted to return this season.

Legaspi (averages around 75)
is a four or five,

could make a difference.
But they're only four deep--
Legaspi's rank would put her  eighth on our team,
not meaningfully higher than Calista Reyes.

Looks like the Bruins could have two number twos--
Galdiano and Spitz--
very good at three and four,
but not credible at five.

Might want to stick the Bruins in the mix with
SC, Stanford, Texas and Duke--
but I said that before this season, too,
and the Bruins dead fell,
despite having the world's number one female amateur.

were from outside the United States--
10 from Europe, eight from Asia,
two from Australia/New Zealand,
and two from Mexico.

And Aline Krauter, who lists as United States,
is from Germany.
I don't think her parents have moved here,
they just sent her to the Florida golf prep school,
Saddlebrook.
