WHERE STANDS THE PAC-12 AFTER WEEK ONE?
Clearly, Ducks folding late (again) was the tragedy of the weekend.
Some mags already had WASH vs UTAH in the Title game out West...
In part because Utes do not play Oregon or Stanford in season.
UTAH must visit Seattle Oct 19 for a possible preview. But, their Home sched is favorable in the South.
Based on opening week...
Looks like WASH vs UTAH for Pac12 Champ game (again), until they are beaten.
Still, in 2017 -- we survived the visit to SLC, and beat #8 WASH in PA for the North to make the title game
* QB Eason had Large opener (against inferior EWAS), with dangerous receivers (Fuller, McClatcher) behind a big OLine. No injuries.
* UTAH has a complete team, with a strong defense. RB Zach Moss is a stud; That Defense will keep them in every game.
* WAST: Tore up NMST, 58-7 -- the mad pirate is a genius to take new QBs and still pile up yardage with the Air Raid. Both QBs >90 QBR.
Going to Pullman in Nov, not fun. We need a RUN game to keep Cougs off field.
* OREG still can't finish games. Blew it against AUBN. Very quick on Defense. Potent offense with Herbert.
Duck loss really hurt the entire Pac12 -- just like 2018 when Huskies bowed to AUBN.
* KAL stumbled out of the gate, but got it together in 2H against AA-level UC Davis.
Good defense and signs of an Offense, but Garbers is the shakiest QB in the league.
* UCLA still sucks on Defense, but away at CINC is a tough opener.
And their QB DTRobinson put in a very scattered performance at just 8 for 26, 150y with 2 TDs, 2 INTs.
Chip Kelly has not righted the ship, but their best rusher Josh Kelley was sidelined (knee).
* ZONA lacks a Defense also, losing @HAWI. Cats vs Bruins might be a basketball score.
* USC played sloppy against a weak FRES team, but brings plenty of skill players as usual, especially at WR, RB.
QB JT Daniels out with knee injury; we get rookie Slovis at QB.
Game next week in Troy goes to team that can gain Offensive rhythm. Maybe turnovers.
Trojans gave up 460 yards to FRES.
Adebo again served notice, total ball hawk. Paulson-o-Raptor. CB Adebo vs WR Vaughn is the showdown.
Frankly I like our Quartet out wide: M.Wilson (stud YAC TD), Fehoko, O.StBrown, and Wedington.
Will KJ be back bcuz he walked off the field, or concussion protocol? JT Daniels was carted off.
What about OT Walker Little, our best OLine guy?
Our Defense played much better than anticipated, up front, with big sacks and turnovers.
Still not totally in gear at Safety, but this unit is better than last year already.
