This morning Mora was broadcasting the ESPN Top 300 signing day program and he said "The west coast football programs are troubled because
football games are won at the line of scrimmage. The extra large size kids are usually found in the south and midwest, and getting players from that area to commit to the west coast is hard to do".
I agree with Mora's comments but don't see how this "body size factor" is any different today than it was 50 years ago.

DE Josh Pakloa was a 2018 ESPN Top 300 Stanford signee. During this past season I don't think he played a down, but hopefully for the 2020 season he will make a significant contribution.

I'm in agreement that Pakola is exciting and am hoping he'll contribute. However, he walked in the door at 260. Lance Keneley will come in at a similar weight. That's not FBS defensive lineman weight. They need 20+ pounds on them.

Tobin Phillips is stepping on campus listed at 285 (and probably bigger).

Thus he had even less experience at DL than a typical freshman DL would. I look forward to his development, and hopefully some meaningful weight gain.

At St. Francis Pakloa played some OLB, but mostly DE. For his  position and style of play (at Stanford)  I think 250 pounds should be a good weight.

No way is 250 enough for Pakola to play DE in a 3-4. He needs to be at least 280 and preferably more. He’s currently listed at 257. So he needs to add 20 pounds this off season.

Ryan Johnson is the guy Stanford needs a big jump from in 2020. He’s listed at 266, and if Juniors and Seniors ideally anchor the DL, it’s his time to shine.

Booker will probably add some weight and be around 290, which will be ideal.

Thomas Shaffer would have a good shot at starting if he returns, and if so, would ideally get bigger for his final year.
