Demanding that forum members here rag on athlete alumni is a poor look.  There are more athlete alumni (and parents thereof) who have drunk some serious koolaid and are retweeting ridiculous BS, but there is no point to being outraged at more specific people.  

And there certain is no point to being outraged that forum members are not outraged.

I guess I wasn't clear enough with my post. I thought it a bad look for forum members calling KWJ stupid and not worthy of listening to, etc. etc. etc., and was trying to call out the hypocrisy that the Paulson Adebo was spared their wrath and was curious as to why?

So, I'm curious, now that a rationale has been shared why one could be more critical of KWJ than PA, do you still feel like the lack of a "Crucify PA" thread showed hypocrisy by the Cardboard faithful?

If you do think that KWJ and PA posts are equally deserving of derision, what do you think is the motivation for the KWJ thread and not one on PA? Misogyny? "Reverse racism"? Fear of upsetting an athlete currently representing Stanford?

Somebody mentioned zigging and zagging, which, in my opinion, is what happens when politics inevitably get involved. But, according to the neuroscientists with whom I work, the systematic methodology part is oftentimes contentious, especially if folks get too set in their assumptions.

Having said that, I much prefer science--with its inevitable reformulations of conclusions as more data are collected and the facts are honed by convergent evidence--to politics when it comes to solving a public health crisis. And this coming from a guy with doctorate in music.

Don't necessarily agree with your premise why one is more worthy of derision than the other. KWJ's posts were, by her own admission, filled with her feelings and emotions. Tough to criticize someone for their feelings, imho, whatever they are. PA's posts were what he believes to be true.

Kerri Walsh Jennings is far better known than Adebo. She's the world's best known athlete in her sport. What she says is newsworthy because of her international prominence.

I don't know what her studies at Stanford entailed. As for Adebo I don't think there are more than a few people in the world who know he exists. And if any individuals base their mask wearing plans on his words then they are fools.

Oh, I agree. I'm not saying people should believe Jennings' statements or follow Jennings' example. I'm just saying that Jennings' statements got more attention than Adebo's because Jennings is far more famous than Adebo.
