1. NFL rookie salaries are criminal - they should be 2 years, max;
2. Martinez one of the most underpaid players during his first 4-5 years (under rookie deal) in the league. In a "freer" market, Martinez would have been paid for years 3 and 4 (handsomely) and not been (perhaps) overpaid in his second contract with the Giants. It's ridiculous that this hasn't been addressed as part of the CBA. This simple change would better align $$ to performers AND remove the regular "hold outs" we (justifiably) see by later-round draftees who are slotted into significant underpayment . . . for longer than the career average of an NFL player!!
3. I'm glad Martinez got paid, whether or not he is "worth" it.
4. Don't know what rap on him in Green Bay was; do know that he could not cover RBs in passing game on Sunday against the 'Niners.
