"To put Stanford’s scheduling feat into perspective, it – the playing of 12 regular-season games vs. programs that are currently Power 5 members (plus Notre Dame) – has only happened three times since 2006 – when the regular season was expanded to 12 games."
Wow. Only three times. I had no clue.

And it's stupid to do this. We won't get credit for it, and it means our injury-prone team takes a greater pounding and is more likely to lose OOC games than our competitors.
I think we should put two OOC games against non-P5s and just have P12 + UFDG as P5 games.

I'd rather play a "P5" game against Vanderbilt than a G5 game against BYU or Boise State, or even SDSU many years.

These games were scheduled YEARS ago. When we were good. (And Vanderbilt wasn't this Vanderbilt-y.)
Coming up we have Colgate, Sacramento State, Hawaii, Cal Poly... (and BYU)

My gawd does that article remind me why I hate the college football operating structure.
Stanford does everything it can to make winning football games more difficult and it gets ZERO reward for doing so.
- Schedules 12 Power 5 opponents
- Has 9 conference games
- Basically takes no transfers (but loses plenty)
- Doesn't use early recruiting official visits
- Only school that requires application and AP classes
- Smallest recruiting pool of any team in the sport
- Can't rely on a large local recruiting base
- Best players take longer to become productive
- Until this year never took early enrollees
- Has small enrollment and fan base with usually uninspiring game day atmosphere
Did I miss anything?

Why on earth are we scheduling Hawai’i AT Hawai’i? Especially first game of the year. I’d much rather play William and Mary at home.

Because it allows us to play 13 games. I'm sure they're going to add a home game.
Probably won't hurt recruiting or morale either.

Stanford gets 2 home games in return.
