CHAMPIONSHIP PARADE TO COMMENCE AT 2 PM PT

The 2021 NCAA champion Stanford women’s basketball program will be recognized in a campus parade this afternoon. Beginning at 2 PM PT, celebrate the team’s return from the NCAA Final Four in San Antonio as they bring the trophy home to The Farm.

The parade route will begin at Maples Pavilion and loop through Campus Drive before ending in Lots 9 and 10 at Lasuen Street, providing the general public with an opportunity to view the parade from the community zone.

Those in attendance are required to observe all existing campus COVID-19 protocols, which includes wearing a mask at all times and maintaining appropriate social distance.

I just got my second COVID shot and I already feel kinda off, so I am not going to drive down for the parade but I wish I could go and yell.  I miss happy yelling.

The parade around Campus Drive is for the students living on campus. The parking lot is for the public.

I drove to campus and parked in front of Flo Mo. I figured as long as I didn’t leave the car I was unlikely to get a parking ticket... Waited 15 minutes or so, and then coming toward me was a procession of police on motorcycles, a few police cars, a fire truck, and then the coaches and players (and the trophy!) in convertibles. Honked my horn a few times, yelled “Congratulations!” and “Go Stanford!” a few times, and then the parade had gone past and I drove home. Can’t say it would have been worth it if I’d had to drive an hour to get to campus, but I’m three miles away and very glad I did it.

Lots of video being shot. At least 4 helicopters. You've probably seen all the photos by now. I just got home, but, yeah, worth it for a 52-second parade. It was a nice, positive experience.
