I'm assuming this is accurate. Note the PR bond. Seems very fortunate for Sherman and hopefully he can quickly dispense of the criminal charges, and more importantly, get the support he needs to make sure that his mental health is prioritized and an incident like this never happens again.

No bail makes sense. He isn't a flight risk, and probably for him 10K isn't really much of a deterrent if he were. It was requested as a pro-forma action because that is probably what they typically ask on a DUI charge. I expect all charges will be dropped except the DUI. If any of the other charges remain, it will be to force a longer probation period. In any case, he isn't going to jail. I am sure everybody on this board really hopes that Richard Sherman can get a handle on what is bothering him and work through it. That said, it often isn't easy to do and it isn't a sure thing. Lets just hope that he succeeds.

As soon as I heard of Sherman's arrest my first thought was bi-polar. It seemed to be the most logical explanation of the described behavior because it was so out of character. If this is in fact true, and Sherman agrees to get the help he needs, he probably has very favorable odds of avoiding jail. Given his notoriety and background, he will likely have a good opportunity to make a lot of lemonade out of the lemons his incident gave him as well.

thanks for posting. yes, it seems the system did work for r.s.

brian copeland's one-man-show, "the waiting period," at the marsh theater in s.f. is wonderful. he tells the story of how he had to wait for the gun he would use to kill himself. during the waiting period, his friends and family helped him change his mind and live. he plays all the roles. the show is not depressing at all. it's uplifting and even funny. we saw it a few years ago. since then the marsh has re-mounted the show several times for runs of a few weeks, so you may have a chance to see it in the future.

after each performance, he offers his hope that seeing the show might inspire others to wait and hopefully change their minds, and he gives examples.
