A mini winning streak going into the NCAA tournament will help with seeding.   USC (#63 RPI) has no realistic chance of making the tournament so they might not be too motivated on a Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving.

Prediction: If Lougeay plays Stanford sweeps.  If Lougeay out Stanford wins 3-1.

I should add, somewhat ominously, that the last time I saw us playing this well was the first two sets against UCLA.  Then Oglive got injured in the third set and it all fell apart.

And that’s a wrap on a straight set victory over USC.  We close out the regular season at Cal on Saturday, and then presumably we will be on the road for the NCAA tourney.  It would be nice to beat Cal and end the season on a five game winning streak (WSU, at Colorado, at Utah, at USC, and at Cal).  That would put us at 18-10 (13-7 in the PAC-12) and likely in the top-20.

If Stanford played like this they would be competitive with most top teams in the country. Blocking for points was one notable deficiency.

Kipp was good hitting out of the back row.

Kipp was effective when she hit from the left side.  Maybe next year a possibility would be Kipp at OH and Francis at MB.

The zero blocks seemed so remarkable to me that I checked the team stats back through 2007 [all that's available on Gostanford.  In all that time, we have NEVER had a zero block match!  In 2007, there were two 2-block matches.  From then to now, the lowest were a handful of 3-block matches.  But, never a zero [or even a 1-block] match.

Not sure whether that's a result of good play or bad play, but it's pretty amazing either way...
