Thanks for this chart. I never realized it, but it looks like the post pipeline after Betts (and Iriafen) could be a recruiting priority next year. We've been spoiled with so many bigs on the roster.
Agreed. Even though I would argue that we will have the best frontcourt in the nation next season (Brink, Prechtel, Belibi, Iriafen, Betts), we shouldn't rest on our laurels as Prechtel & Belibi will be graduating afterwards and Brink and Iriafen will be upperclassmen the following year. With Betts just a freshman next year, we have a little leeway, but definitely getting the next elite post in either the Class of '23 or '24 should be a high priority.
We are recruiting elite W/F players in '24 (Joyce Edwards, Kendall Dudley) and posts (Blanca Thomas) as well as in '25 (Sienna Betts). I still remain more worried about recruiting equally elite guards who can create their own shot and get those forward/posts the ball.
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten our (relative) inability to recruit elite guards lately. Except for Kiana, we've had some big misses on guards such as Kiki Rice this season and then Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron last year, who both played well, particularly Miles during their freshmen season for N.D. Going back further, even though she didn't pan out as elite, I think Kyra Lambert had us as a finalist and then we also missed out on Diggins during the Ogwumike years.
I am hoping Nivar, Lepolo and Agara have been under-rated; we might not need them to play at an All-American level, but they have to be consistent enough threats so that opposing teams can't collapse onto our posts.
