USWNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski was asked about Maccario’s recovery from her early 2022 ACL tear after his recent roster release and said it was going well and she would continue her rehab in Qatar (?).  

The article attached below and other similar reports speculate on a Jan/Feb 2023 return so Macario has a chance at being in form for a World Cup call up.

Oh, man, recovery from my rotator cuff surgery was bad enough. Kudos to every athlete who takes this on, regardless of gender.

Sad but not unexpected.  Although it's been almost a year, that's a tough injury for athletes to recover from. There was little chance of Macario being named to the USWNT when she hadn't played at any level since the injury. Hopefully she'll get her shot at a WC title in 4 years.
