That would have had nothing to do with Stanford not securing any QB commits for several years after West and McKee committed or slumming with Patu and Daniels. I do think it's a reasonable question for the 2023 class and perhaps a significant part of not getting Lonergan, but the difference between Lonergan and Jackson isn't all that great. I think the main reason we're not getting top 100 QBs is that we stink as a program. Keep in mind that Pritchard-Loukas-Kiilsgaard were the same era.....when we stunk. Stanford's QB recruiting dips when we have a crap product to sell.

He has a chance to be good if utilized right. He has pocket presence, agility, quick release, and arm strength. I'd have to see more of him to form more of an opinion.
I'm actually higher on Daniels. He's an excellent athlete who shows all the traits to be a very exciting college QB. Stanford fans saw only a fraction of his capabilities this past season.
Taylor's two-headed QB might be in play again in '23.

Don't get me wrong, he's a credible prospect and if we have the space we can do worse than having a serviceable, eager blocking receiver, but I struggle to see anything where Cisse really stands out. A lot of Silas Starr echoes. Coming in as WR4 in the class we're not expecting much from him, but that also raises the question of why we're bringing in a four WR class on the heels of essentially a three WR class (Thompson seems destined for a scholarship). There are vibes here that are reminiscent of stretches under Shaw when we kept recruiting fairly redundant DBs. With Reuben, Ayomanor, Thompson, Borden, Bachmeier, and Harris in the same cohort it's hard for me to see what Cisse adds. I also can't help but notice how much getting all these guys shapes the WR room for Osborne before he even starts. That could be a blessing and a curse. Kennedy was a competent coach who built a reliable room and this bequest gives Osborne a young, full house from the start. But the quality in general seems notably worse than what Kennedy got to coach and it builds out the room without consideration for what Taylor and Osborne think they need for their offense.

The junior highlights struck me as more of the same, short and intermediate routes, lots of blocking, not a lot of explosiveness deep or after the catch. The best competition his junior year came against Arizona power Chandler and their ten or so future major college football players. Cisse was limited to one catch for 20 yards in that game, a play in which he came back after going downfield to provide a target for the scrambling QB and fell forward to his knees to snag an underthrown pass. His other highlights in that game include a run block and a diving "catch" out of bounds that is a bit annoying he included on the highlights as it was not a legal play. None of the Chandler star highlights showed anything notable, positive or negative, for Cisse. Cisse was also hardly dominant against Regis Jesuit, 4 catches for 41 yards in the regular season and 3 catches for 27 yards in the playoffs. Those highlights were all short routes and run blocking. The highlights for Cal OLB Nunie Tuitele show the same and Cisse isn't really visible from the angle on Nebraska LB commit Hayden Moore's tape. Against Grandview, Cisse mostly didn't match up against Wyoming safety Malique Singleton but Cisse did get the better of a 20 yard flag route and also had another big gain up the sideline, ending with just over 100 yards total; Singleton had a pick six but to the opposite side of the field from Cisse and nothing on Singleton's highlights showed anything getting the best of Cisse. In the state championshihp (for those who don't know, Cherry Creek wins the state championship every year) against Valor Christian, he had 3 catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown had more to do with the QB evading four potential sackers and finding an open Cisse, who then had to shed one desperate tackler trying to run him down. For his senior year, Cisse has yet to post full season highlights or highlights of the state championship four-peat against Valor Christian. Among what has been posted, Cisse went to Ohio and took on St. Edward and their handful of prospects, who held him to 4 catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. None of his highlights or those for Northwestern edge commit Michael Kilbane or Coastal Carolina LB commit Wyatt Gedeon show head-to-head highlights. He had better luck against Regis Jesuit as a senior, getting 110 yards, but 85 of those came on a streak on busted coverage with nobody in the vicinity, and comparing the stats with the highlights corroborates my sense from other highlights he puts some acrobatic end zone and sideline "catches" on his reel that weren't actually ruled catches.

Don't get me wrong, he's a credible prospect and if we have the space we can do worse than having a serviceable, eager blocking receiver, but I struggle to see anything where Cisse really stands out. A lot of Silas Starr echoes. Coming in as WR4 in the class we're not expecting much from him, but that also raises the question of why we're bringing in a four WR class on the heels of essentially a three WR class (Thompson seems destined for a scholarship). There are vibes here that are reminiscent of stretches under Shaw when we kept recruiting fairly redundant DBs. With Reuben, Ayomanor, Thompson, Borden, Bachmeier, and Harris in the same cohort it's hard for me to see what Cisse adds. I also can't help but notice how much getting all these guys shapes the WR room for Osborne before he even starts. That could be a blessing and a curse. Kennedy was a competent coach who built a reliable room and this bequest gives Osborne a young, full house from the start. But the quality in general seems notably worse than what Kennedy got to coach and it builds out the room without consideration for what Taylor and Osborne think they need for their offense.

Yes, NC State’s OC went to Coastal and their OL coach went to Ole Miss. Nothing to suggest it had anything even remotely to do with Shaw.

I’m not concerned about bringing in too many WRs (or any other position) in the most recent few classes. Stanford signed 52 scholarship recruits in the last 3 classes combined. With people rarely staying 5 and frequently entering the portal before 4, 20/class should be the minimum. Stanford had plenty of spots to spare. And since there are 0 DBs in this class, maybe 1 of the WRs will switch.
When I registered here in 2014, TrumpCard seemed like an apolitical user ID...
I’m not concerned about bringing in too many WRs (or any other position) in the most recent few classes. Stanford signed 52 scholarship recruits in the last 3 classes combined. With people rarely staying 5 and frequently entering the portal before 4, 20/class should be the minimum. Stanford had plenty of spots to spare. And since there are 0 DBs in this class, maybe 1 of the WRs will switch.
