Anyway, I still think Tara is out of touch and her and Muir have been too slow to adapt to pretty much everything. It is moving fast like technology but Stanford is synonymous with Silicon Valley and fast moving technology. This is not the Stanford way IMO.

I listened to that segment about the Olivia Dunne article and didn't hear Cam defending her or say anything about it being taken out of context at all. Even if she did, Tara had the opportunity to get behind NIL in the NYT but obviously didn't do that. She's not up for this type of fight. As you say, slow to adapt.

Remember, Betts committed in Jan 2021, before NIL deals were even legalized for college players. During her recruitment coaches weren't at all talking about the kind of NIL she might get at their school. Things are way different now than they were even 6 months ago.

Looking ahead and a strong possibility that no transfers will be coming in, I agree this is the starting lineup for 2023-2024.  Have always thought Bosgana could develop into a strong, physical shooting guard who can defend well and if she indeed starts, we should see her confidence grow and her unique skill sets on display.  Bosgana can hit the 3, drive, absorb contact and score.  She makes us a stronger starting team than last season.   On the downside, I don't see anyone who can replace Iriafen and/or Brink in the post.  Demetre a 4 at best.

Well, not too bad at all.  Not a Top 10 team nationally, but could still be 
a Top 25 team nationally and a Top 3 team in the PAC 12.

Looking ahead and a strong possibility that no transfers will be coming in, I agree this is the starting lineup for 2023-2024.  Have always thought Bosgana could develop into a strong, physical shooting guard who can defend well and if she indeed starts, we should see her confidence grow and her unique skill sets on display.  Bosgana can hit the 3, drive, absorb contact and score.  She makes us a stronger starting team than last season.   On the downside, I don't see anyone who can replace Iriafen and/or Brink in the post.  Demetre a 4 at best.

Wondering if Tara might play more zone when Kiki and Cam are on the bench.

Definitely thin at the post, since DEMETRE although 6'3  is more of a stretch forward
SF/PF while incoming freshman AGARA is a transplanted PF who used to be a SG
because of a sudden growth spurt from 5'11 to 6'2 between her HS sophomore 
and HS junior years. 

Scratching my head now since BETTS will have really seen a major increase 
in minutes if she stays, since it will have been an awesome 3-player rotation
at PF and C among BRINK, IRIAFEN and BETTS, so most likely 
70 to 80 minutes/game shared among the three of them. Sigh!

On the other hand, I see this coming season as the breakout year
for BOSGANA if given the chance because she definitely has the tools 
as a two-way player on offense and at 6'2 the length to disrupt passing lanes
on defense.

In the two NCAA games Nivar averaged about 20 minutes.  Nope it’s not playing time

Why do you think these players are transferring if it’s not playing time?

I think for Nivar, she may not have been comfortable and not able to utilize all her skills in the offensive system, but I have no source to suggest that indeed is the case the reason.  Just speculating.

Quick comment on Betts seeking another team.  It may be a long-shot, but don't count out Oregon State who lost 6'9 Mitrovic to play professionally in Europe.

Other teams with championship potential may appeal to Betts, but I cannot think of another team (nationally) that has a better track record of developing big posts than the Beavs.

Scott Rueck's offensive system does a great job of teaching their posts the art of good positioning and sealing defenders and (for guards, wings and forwards), getting the ball into their posts in timely fashion.

Still think it's a long shot, but in this wacky portal world, you never know.

Watched game footage of Maty Wilke and Kayla Padilla, both in the portal.  As stated before, Wilke lists Stanford among her top 5 and Padilla (a So Cal native) wants to play out west.  Wilke has a nice shot, but is a bit one-dimensional.  Padilla the real deal; can create and score from multiple positions.  If accepted academically and offered a grad scholarship, Kayla Padilla would fix a lot of problems for us.
