It will largely depend on how fast the team can knit.
They've got:
- two former Top 10 players (#1 Juju WATKINS and #8 GAYLES),
- four players who were ranked in the 20s (#21 AKUNWAFO, #26 ONU,
#27 MARSHALL and #29 BIGBY) and
- another two who were also Top 50 (#35 FORBES and #49 SAMUELS).
Five of these were former HS McDAAs.
Moreover, three of the premiere players from the Ivy League last season
(PADILLA, DAVIS and FORBES) return as grad students for the Trojans.
PADILLA, who led the Ivy League in scoring for the past two seasons,
I'm familiar with, because the Philippine Women's Senior National Team
is serious about getting her services in the near future
(Vanessa DE JESUS of Duke played for them three months ago
at the 2023 Asian Cup and was very instrumental in their modest success,
having beaten Chinese Taipei for the very first time)
This will be Juju WATKINS' team from Day 1 of her collegiate playing career.
Projected starting line-up:
F - DAVIS 6'2
F/C - MARSHALL 6'4 (2021 #27 overall, McDAA)
SG - WATKINS 6'2 (2023 #1 overall, McDAA)
SG - PADILLA 5'9 (led entire Ivy League in scoring in both 2021-22 and 2022-23)
PG - WILLIAMS 5'7 (2019 #72 overall)
Main Reserves:
F - FORBES 6'0 (2018 #35 overall, McDAA)
C - AKUNWAFO 6'6 (2021 #21 overall, McDAA)
G - GAYLES 5'9 (2022 #8 overall, McDAA)
G - ONU 5'10 (2021 #26 overall)
G - BIGBY 6'1 (2021 #29 overall)
PG - SAMUELS 5'6 (2023 #49 overall)
