Rumors out of Charlottesville suggest Tony Bennett has had enough of NIL/Portal basketball and may be ready to ride off into the Shenandoah and thus why UVA is on the bubble. If I recall, that's also what prompted Jay Wright to hang it up early. Stanford could throw half their endowment at whales like those two, but I'd be shocked if either one wants a reclamation project along with all that cross-country travel.

Start looking at the UCIs of the world for a hungry non-household name ready to take on the world for more money.

I used the plural of UCI. It doesn't have to be UCI, but you get the idea. Turner was a hot commodity and exactly the kind of coach Stanford would hire five years ago before his hot water episode.

I don't know. If Muir is going to be calling the shots, I'm not that excited. My interest in basketball has fallen to the point where my 6 year old granddaughter will be filling out my bracket for me. Which means...I'm winning it this year *******!!

I'm a pretty casual MBB fan these days, but I'd consider Kyle Smith a good hire. What do people think of the WSU coach? Seems like there has been some online chatter that he and Stanford might be a good fit.

While he's coached at Columbia, he doesn't have a proven track record of making the tournament or winning the ivy.  He's had one decent season which is this year.  I'd like to be more consistent success.

Smith is under consideration at UDub and Ohio State.  While I would like to see him at Stanford, I think he will find a job with an employer who is willing to pay more than the Cardinal are likely to offer.

My daughter applied with 3.5 years of work experience, degrees from Pomona College and Oxford, almost a perfect GRE score and didn't get an interview. Of course she is in the non-profit world, so it wasn't likely, but still....

I don't think our basketball players are ever getting in there straight out of college. The admission rate is 4-6%.

On the other hand, the School of Education admitted my sister who did not graduate from high school, but had a degree from UC-Santa Cruz and an MFA from a college with a 100% acceptance rate. Good enough to get her into SUSE.

In general, no one is getting into a top business school straight out of college without work experience.  As for GSB admissions, yes it is difficult.  But it gets a lot easier if you come from a top consulting firm such as McKinsey/Bain/BCG (which some might argue is harder to get in than GSB as they themselves require top test scores and high GPAs).
