MBB - vs. Baylor - PVTree - 11-20-2021

We trail 34-28 at the half. Closer than expected. Hopefully, we can remain competitive in the second half.

Raynaud, Jones, MOC, Ingram, and Beskind started.

Being shown on ESPiN+

Much closer than I expected

RE: MBB - vs. Baylor - PVTree - 11-20-2021

We've become a turnover factory at the start of the second half. Trail 42-29 now. MOC: 1 asst, 5 TOs.

***************

Turnovers continue, up to 17 for the game. Now trail 53-31. We still haven't made a FG in the second half... 7.5 minutes into it.

***************

8 assists, 14 made baskets, and 20 turnovers. Took 10+ minutes to get out first second half bucket. Down 72-38.

***************

Finally, over...86-48 loss.

22 turnovers, 18 FGs, 10 assists.

Acceptable first half... Terrible second half.

Well, as they say, that post didn’t age well … :-) (or you had REALLY low expectations)

Got a long way to go. Maybe my projection that we would be at least mediocre this year was too optimistic.

OK, for those who have extolled Haase’s recruiting how come they are always mediocre?

RE: MBB - vs. Baylor - BobK - 11-20-2021

I have very low expectations.

The way we have been going so far I would settle for mediocre.

Hard to identify the bigger problem between Stanford MBB and Football.

Both are way underperforming the talent they have signed to play for them and producing an uninspiring, unwatchable product.

With McKee, I think Stanford football is at least watchable.
Without him, you are probably right.

McKee played against Washington. That game was like watching flies fornicate. I fast forwarded through most of it because there was so little interesting or noteworthy in it.

Everyone always wants to go straight to the coach. Understandable.  But I believe the bigger question is whether the Administration gives a damn about either football or men’s basketball.   If, as I suspect, they do not, that’s a bigger problem.

What good does it do if Haase brings in a couple of fairly highly rated recruits each year and yet continues to put a raging mediocrity on the court year after year?

Talented players will want to declare after lousy freshman and/or soph seasons and we're back to starting all over. I've never been convinced that Haase is a good strategic and/or in-game coach.

Ok.  What does that have to do with my comment?

One Coach has benched multiple starters, one hasn’t.

You might add WVB to that list.

Why do you dislike Hambly so much?

I don't dislike Hambly.  I've talked to him on a few occasions.  He seems like a really nice guy.

I've explained myself several times.  I'll repeat.  When you consider the talent, the WVB team is under-performing in a massive way.  Based on prep rankings WVB talent is vastly superior to football and mbb.

I would speculate all or most of the Cardboarders who are not satisfied with the football team's performance don't "dislike" Shaw.  You can separate your respect for a person and their track record in coaching.
