I’ll be rooting for all the PAC-12 teams.  I think most of us are somewhat offensively-challenged (with the exception of Utah) but I think we have some of the best defensive teams in the country and I hope our conference demonstrates that in the tournament.

I'm not sure what thread this comment belongs in, but I'll put it here because it seems to fit here best, rather than starting a thread of its own. At any rate, there's an interesting article in today's "The Athletic." It's behind a paywall, but if you get the digital NYT, you can access it.

Article is "Who's the Best X's and O's Coaches in Women's College Basketball" -- results of an anonymous poll of more than 30 WBB coaches taken over the past month or so. Results as follows:  
     
     Tara 11;  Geno 4; Jeff Walz (Louisville) 4; Bill Fenelly (Iowa State) 2; Karl Svesko (Florida Gulf Coast) 2; then there's a list of those getting 1 votes that includes among others Brenda Frese (Maryland), Kelly Graves (Oregon), Lynn Roberts (Utah), and Dawn Staley. The Pac-12 is the only conference that has 3 coaches getting votes in this poll.

Following the poll numbers, the article discusses each of these coaches, with most ink given to Tara, discussing how adaptable she has been over the years and how well she adapts to the strengths of her players.

Second part of article is about "Who's the next big time coach" -- and at the top is Lindy LaRocque with 5 votes, followed by two coaches with 3 votes.

I am not sure where this belong and I don't want to start another wbb thread, but the All-Americans were announced.

Brink got named to the 2nd Team and Jones got on the 3rd Team

First Team is Aliyah Boston (S.C.), Caitlin Clark (Iowa), Maddy Siegrist (Villanova), Angel Reese (LSU) and Mackenzie Holmes (Indiana)

ESPN not giving us much love. Only 1/12 predicted we make Final 4 (Iowa was pick for everyone else). 
We are mentioned as likely being the first #1 seed to lose in the tourney.

I may be all wet with my predictions for the tourney, however having watched a fair amount of teams across the country, I believe that the Pac12 will do really well this tournament - maybe their best showing ever. I see 6 teams making it to the Sweet 16; Ucla, Arizona, Stanford, Utah, and USC making it to the elite 8 and final four having Stanford, Ucla, Utah, joining Uconn. Besides seeing the levelof talent and coaching in the P12 this year, the teams have a brobdingnagian advantage in having played so many other good teams in conference, but particularly teams with a variety of styles and types of players. Teams have had to prepare for the ugly low scoring play with Colorado and SC and then the wide open game of Utah and Ucla. The P12 has really good defensive teams and have learned how to shut down or contain the best scorers on the other team. 

Again, I may be crazy for such a rosy outlook for the conference, but I just have a feeling that the P12 has been underestiamted and that they will have a very successful tournament.

OK, here it is, repeated from the other thread.  Note that Utah and USC play at the same time we do. 
Just for Friday's games:

Let me also say I am emphatically NOT cheering for every other team in the Pac 12.  I am cheering for every other team that is staying in the Pac 12.  I hope the traitors UCLA and USC promptly lose, and it pains me that they each beat us this year.

Tickets have been sent out.

Quite surprised to see where I ended up--my usual seats in Section 4, but they moved me all the way to Section 12. I will miss all the bench moments, but it should be nice to get a different perspective (and WAY better than my seat under the flagpole last year).

I guess the folks from Ole Miss didn't buy a lot of tickets.

I'm cheering for every team in the Pac-12 this year, despite my strong distaste for the traitorous two. But after they leave, I will NOT be cheering for them ever again. On the positive front, there's one other team that I hope all will be rooting on, Lindy's UNLV. I'll certainly be with them.

Oh, @#$@. Just realized the last time I sat in Section 12 was when we lost to Minnesota in the 2nd round. Time before that? When we lost to Harvard.

Once the games begin, I suspect you've be able to informally "upgrade" your seats without much difficulty, especially on Friday when attendance is probably going to be sadly sparse. We did get our usual season ticket seats in Section 4, but we're higher up, in the 1st row of the loge, not the seats they give out to attending teams.

Besides Stanford I'm rooting for La Rocque's UNLV team.  I read several articles where she could leave for big bucks but wants to finish the job at UNLV. I also like Virginia Tech.  I like Kitley and the humble way she handles herself on the court.

I'm going to cheer against LSU and UCLA because I find their coaches' annoying.

I haven't read any of the WBB threads for the past week up until now.  I just realized the game in Maples tonight is on ESPNU.  Yay.

For me BobK can do no wrong. If I typed my posts on my phone, they would be way worse than his.

I thought it would be useful to add what channel the games are on.
 The ESPN bracket lists the channels...  But we know what happens with games on the ESPN networks.... none but the earliest get their opening minutes or quarter shown on the assigned channel.

The NCAA Women's basketball has officially kicked off with the Mississippi State/Illinois play-in game.  After a tight first half (31-30), Missississippi State has opened up a 42-34 lead midway through the third quarter.

Certainly optimistic with your predictions and I hope you are right.

Somehow I just can't imagine UCLA beating South Carolina in a Sweet 16 matchup.  Many media pundits have #5 seed Oklahoma beating my Bruin team in the second round at Pauley.  UCLA has demonstrated wildly varying levels of play this season, a reflection perhaps of relying on five true freshmen in the rotation.  We all witnessed that variability in a single game - the conference tournament semifinal game against Cardinal.

I hope and believe Tara and her staff will have Stanford playing up to its potential and earnings its way to the championship game.  I also think Washington State makes a better than expected run.  Utah's run will depend on how well its opponents defend.  Not sold on Arizona, USC or Colorado.
