With our season officially over, expect to see transfer portal announcements in the coming days/weeks. RB Ryan Butler is the first to enter the portal - he will get his degree.

Makes sense. He is behind 4 younger rb's plus the grad school issue.

I'm also expecting Sedrick Irvin to hit the portal. He was penciled in as the starter at the end of last year, and 3 true Frosh seemed to have jumped him in the pecking order.

He was averaging THIRTY snaps/game and almost evenly splitting snaps with Ford for the first 4 games, before being hurt for the season, which isn't quite "being jumped." That implies he was a healthy scratch...Ryan Butler was a healthy scratch.

Taylor indicated he was expecting transfers mid-year. If that means January, it should be soon. There could be a better chance of seeing transfers in March for spring quarter.

Would spring quarter transfers only be from athletes coming from quarter system schools? Seems hard to switch mid semester.

This is completely idle speculation on my part, but I wonder if he was told that Stanford is going to go after an incoming QB transfer. The biggest name that at least theoretically could be brought in is Miller Moss from SC. Moss, in his transfer announcement, thanked his senior thesis advisor, fwiw.
Most likely, I'm way off about Moss. But we'll see if Stanford brings in someone. I mean, Andrew Luck probably would be able to help with recruiting a QB, I would think.

Moss's mother Emily Kovner is a Stanford alum (class of 1995).

They had four incoming transfers for the OL, three of which were all-conference players. Cal then proceeded to have a very poor OL this year. Sometimes it doesn't work out.

Daniels and Lamson combined for 216 QB keepers this season, out of 807 total offensive plays.
Over 1/4 of the LSJU offense and almost half of the team's rushing attempts, were QB keepers. That has to be a record for the past several decades of LSJU football? Besides the service academies, who else in recent NCAA P5/4 football has done that? In any event, it's not going to happen again for LSJU in 2025. I for one won't miss it!

To be fair, it was probably the closest to the most efficient offense we could run. Should we have risked more interceptions? On the other hand, I was disappointed in the lack of ingenuity in the run game. (Oh but we didn't have the personnel to run those plays or schemes -- YOU ARE THE COACHES; TEACH THESE YOUNG, TALENTED MEN TO WIN.)

Trevor Mayberry (LG/LT/C) is grad transferring after graduating this winter. The transfer from Penn started nine games last year and played in zero games this year. (injured?)
