8/23/2025 at Hawaii L 20-23
9/6/2025 at BYU L 3-27
9/13/2025 Boston College W 30-20
9/20/2025 at Virginia L 20-48
9/27/2025 San José State W 30-29

Last season CUSE and LOUV were miracle wins.
Do we have one?
10/11/2025 at SMU 12:00 P.M. -- Very difficult, road game. But we won at Cuse last year. [<10% probability]
10/18/2025 Florida State 10:30 P.M. -- in PA, not invincible, but we cannot keep pace with them. We didn't stay with VIRG either. [<4%]
10/25/2025 at Miami TBA -- I don't see it close. [<1%]. MIAM could take it all this year.
11/1/2025 Pitt in PA TBA -- YES, maybe; they thrashed BC 48-7. We survived with BC mistakes [>20%]. Game in PA avoids the long trip.
11/8/2025 at North Carolina TBA -- YES. TarHeels surprisingly suck under Belichick. Shockingly bad. No desire. [>60%]
11/22/2025 California TBA -- YES, Bears really suck. They got blanked by SDST, and barely edged BC. [50%]   Duke is favored tonight.
But, they might need a win in Big Game to get to SIX wins again. ? C'mon, we do them in PA. Like old times. No late kickoff returns with the band.
11/29/2025 Notre Dame TBA -- NO, Domers are desperate to make playoffs, and must win out. [<2%]

I do not see a way to get to SIX games; but I could see FOUR with Gulbranson clicking. PITT, NCAR, and KalSucks. WINS.
Then that late loss back in Honolulu keeps us from bagging SIX wins. Shame.
With a weak O-Line, our run game remains badly out of sorts.

Good thread start
My own expectation is that, assuming the rest of games are losses, the three in a row of Pitt, NC, and Cal are key.
Win all 3 and it is a great season of notable and impressive improvement.
Lose all 3 and it is a step back major disappointment year.
Anything else is arguably somewhat sideways year.

Does Franklin survive this, and if so, for how long? I can see not firing him in the season, but at this point it seems pretty clear he isn't the guy to take Penn State to even another Big-10 championship, let alone a CFP championship. He has had lots of years to do it, and has got close a few times, but his teams always seem to fall short when it really "counts".

Totally agree. Starkly accurate.
Luck believes, "We will have several options for Head Coach 2026. Stanford is a unique posting."
He says, "the turnaround this year on the Transfer Portal demonstrates we can get starters." ... So, go get O-Line.

Cal was the home team, but Duke had no problem with the West Coast time zone disadvantage for ACC After Dark. Duke apparently arrived in the Bay Area on Thursday to allow its players to adjust to a game that ended at ~ 2 a.m. ET.

With the tumble of CLEM, the most likely ACC Champ game is now MIAM vs GTEC, [or VIRG?]
with Canes making the Playoffs and a first round bye.
VIRG does not play GTEC nor MIAM in season.
DUKE does not play MIAM either. Duke hosts GTEC next week.
So, VIRG vs DUKE on Nov. 15 might be a tie-breaker game.
Teams with the best offenses seem to be taking the top of the ACC Conf.

In our CardBoard preseason poll, I picked Stanford to win 2 games. I was thinking Hawaii and SJSU would be the wins. The win over Boston College has me thinking that maybe the ACC competition isn't as strong as I suspected.

If I put on my Cardinal-colored glasses, I can see possible wins:
vs Pitt--their three wins are over Duquesne, Central Michigan and Boston College, although they lost close games to West Virginia and Lousiville
@ North Carolina--if Stanford is going to win a road game, this would be it
vs Cal--I married into a UCLA (wife)/Cal (in-laws) family, so this is personal

SMU's wins are against East Texas A&M (forget knowing their mascot, does anyone not from Texas know where the school is located?), Missouri State (forget knowing their mascot, does anyone not from Missouri know where the school is located?) and Syracuse, who is mediocre at best. But I think that playing on the road at 9 am Pacific against a more talented team is too much of a disadvantage. Stanford would have to win the turnover battle handily to have a chance.

Florida State, Miami and Notre Dame have no business losing to Stanford.

I'll stick with my prediction of two wins, but, of course, hope that I am wrong!

If Belichick leaves of his own accord, he owes UNC $1M, and apparently he's willing to do that if he can find a "soft landing" with another team or media. UNC might be able to terminate him for cause given the developing story behind recruiting violations and what other fire might be causing the smoke. I'm sure UNC would love to recoup $1M and be done with a contract that made Belichick the ninth-highest paid college coach.
