That's great. I got to sit by Alanna at the team postseason banquet one year. She was very gracious and friendly. Of course it was great watching her play too!

RE: WBB: Stanford WNBA - Nobadeer - 10-16-2024

Tough game 3 for Alanna Smith and the Lynx, they led almost the entire game and lost in the final seconds to an Ionescu logo shot. Ionescu and the Dux were deprived by covid of their chance to win the 2020 NCAA tournament. Maybe this will be her title season.

Smith was hobbled by a first half back injury and played only 20 minutes, 2 points, 6 reb, 4 ast, and 5 fouls trying to guard superhuman B. Stewart. Quite a heroic effort by Smith in the second half, she could barely run the floor with her back injury.

Alanna Smith and the Lynx win thrilling game 4!

Smith played through her back injury for 30 minutes, with 12 pts (incl. a pair of second half threes), 7 reb, 2 ast (both in the decisive late 4th quarter), 2 stl, 1 blk, and some heroic defense against Stewart who shot only 5 of 21.

Game 5, for the WNBA title, is Sunday night at Barclays Center. Go Alanna and Lynx!

'Future me can worry': No time for pain as Alanna Smith eyes WNBA glory - ESPN

Article says she's off to China soon after championship game

RE: WBB: Stanford WNBA - Nobadeer - 10-20-2024

Liberty win the WNBA title in a game 5 that was not a work of art. The two teams combined for just 5 of 42 on threes and missed 94 shots total!?

Great season for the Lynx and Alanna Smith. She had 6 pts and 8 rebs in game 5.

RE: WBB: Stanford WNBA - M T - 10-20-2024

That's the first WNBA game I've watched this season.  I don't like the way the WNBA game is called by the refs.  Mauling is allowed.  Two-handed shoves to the chest.  Grab someone's shoulder as they go past you, if you're the center.  Then, when the refs get caught with a bad call, and they review it,  they make a weird call.  "Defender was not in a legal guarding position"  WTH????   I thought it was a review as to whether their call is right (was there illegal contact or not), but they gave an excuse that, if it WERE right, would change the call from a block to a charge, not from a touch on the arm.

Cheryl Reeve didn’t like it either…
