Five. I continue to feel that over the season, Stanford will grow stronger more than S Carolina will.

UCLA looking pretty good against South Carolina in the first four minutes. 8-0 run. UCLA looks better running down the court. Probably won't last.
After first quarter UCLA up 16-13.

It's now 47 all at the end of 3. Aliyah Boston with only 1 foul and has already played 25 minutes (only 4 fewer minutes than she played in total vs Stanford, including overtime).

The UCLA/South Carolina game had something in common with our game. UCLA led most of the game, then South Carolina clamped down defensively in the fourth quarter, and UCLA made some critical mistakes toward the end. South Carolina wore down its opponents, perhaps both physically and psychologically, and only took the lead toward the end of each game.

SCAR 73, UCLA 64 -- but game much closer than that. It would have been a wider margin if SCAR had hit threes -- were 1-14, much worse than they did against Stanford. And 15!! blocks for SCAR. Only 6 points from the bench for UCLA.

UCLA was called for a bit more than 50% more fouls than the home team (but that includes end-of-game fouls). I didn't realize the game was on until late in the 4th just before Kiki Rice got called for 3 fouls (1 technical, 2 personal) within 5 seconds. (The first call was legit as was the technical, but I didn't see a foul on her for the 3rd but that ref is good.) That was a 5 point swing, from down 4 with 1:13 to go to down 9.
Ouch.

Boston did another elbow to the face move, like the one that caused Ashten to miss one game. She was caught this time.
UCLA's strategy was to clog the paint and dare SC to make outside shots. It worked pretty well for most of the game. I doubt that will work against us because we can shoot the 3 pretty well.

Watched the last quarter of game between Ucla and So Carolina. Ucla was tied or exchanging the lead until about halfway or so into the 4th, then fell apart. Big reason they fell apart was Kiki Rice. Seeing her, I'm glad we didn't get her and happy that we have Lepolo instead. Rie scoreed 16 points (no 3 pointers) BUT has zero assists. That's indicative of a ball hog. Worse, when it was a 4 pt game, she committed a foul, got mad and slammed the ball on the court and got a technical. SC made 4 FTs in a row for an 8 pt lead and Ucla didn't get close again. Rie fouled out shortly thereafter. She looked to me to be a selfish and immature player, someone with an inflated ego. I was not impressed. Lepolo OTOH runs our offense, has lots of assists, scores enough, and I think she's faster than Rice.
Ucla seemed to be using 4 guards a lot and then may have thrown off SC. They packed it in like we did and doubled Boston, but had more quicker guards to defend than we did agst SC. Ucla does have some tall players but going small they could present troiuble. Our bigs will do well and if they pack it in, we have 3 point shooters who will do damage. SC was horrible from 3 tonight.
Osbourne looked real good, but neither team looked as sharp or in sync as our game with SC. Both teams looked pretty average.

Wonder if Tara would agree with that sentiment toward Kiki Rice.

Really, I think you are misinformed? Rice is tremendously talented. She's only a freshman and will learn with experience and get better. Her potential is very high. She's averaging over 3 assists per game and primarily plays on the wing, not as the lead point guard. Lepolo is great and I'm so thankful she's on our team. I think UCLA feels the same way about Rice who has a tremendous future.
Can we have an Other Pac12 WBB game thread to discuss Pac12 teams and their performances instead of making a new one each time.

I will create a new thread for each of our own games, as I have for the last decade, but having a separate place to discuss the rest of the Pac 12 makes sense.
