I watched the UConn post-game presser, with Geno, Paige, Aaliyah Edwards. and Nika Muhl. The players, while devastated, were uniformly classy in their comments about the game, about each other, and about Geno. Geno gave very thoughtful and sensitive answers to the questions posed. In fact, objectively speaking, his answers were much more thoughtful, substantive, and revealing than I've heard at any Stanford women's basketball post-game presser. Impressive.

Anyway a little balm for his wounds is he just got a commitment from the #1 HS player in America for '24. Add her to Paige and all the excellent players he has coming back from injuries and he will be very tough to beat next season.

Agree, he'll be tough to beat next season.
Having listened closely to what he said at his post-game presser and how he said it, not to mention UConn's remarkable record over the past two decades, I'm not surprised he got that commitment. He is a great coach.

The Uconn, South Carolina, and UCLA rosters are all incredibly talented for next year. Possibly some other top teams too depending on how off season transfers end up. Those would be my top teams right now.

Those would be my top teams right now.I was just conversing with a cousin (who used to be a Univ of Iowa faculty member) and her husband who resided in Iowa City from 2007-2013 and now live in Irvine, CA. They mention that what makes Caitlin CLARK super special is not only her logo 3-point shooting and all-time statistical records but also the fact that she has now led the Hawkeyes to two consecutive national championship games without any McDonald's All-American teammates.

South Carolina and UConn are clearly at the top. They both made the final four, return almost everyone and add the #1 and #2 HS players in the country. Yes UCLA looks good on paper but they only made the Sweet Sixteen this year. They need to achieve more before being included in the same sentence as South Carolina and UConn next year in my opinion.

Both South Carolina and UConn benefit from outstanding coaching staffs.

South Carolina had just too much of everything today. Clark and Iowa got off to a great start but Dawn made the right adjustments.
16 secs in the 1H, Iowa trailing by one, Clark walking the ball up court and gets picked to give up an easy layup. I didn’t understand that one at all - why no urgency to get the ball up court?

Clark is phenomenal, but she whines way too much.

At this time last year we were chosen as 16, which is about how things turned out. But I previously outlined my best and worst alternatives based on our past experience. Best being Chiney's final year (2013-14, 33-4), worst being the following season (2014-15, 26-10.) The first assumes Iriafen really is the second coming of Chiney and others step up to be as effective as Chiney's supporting class was. The second assumes a complete rebuild similar to when Tara had to ditch the triangle and create a new system around previously unheralded players.
