And Yost, Shaughnessy, Walsh, Camp, Kerr, Ralston

Walsh played at UOP and Ralston at Cal, correct. So they'd be out, as it's players, correct. Forgot about Wiggin, he both played and unfortunately coached. The others I think were just coaches.

Disappointingly, nary a guess on the minor league home run kings.

Overall, Hector Espino with 484 homers in the Mexican Leagues. Mike Hessman is the MLB affiliated minor league home run king, with 433 dingers in the minors.

I cheated. Practice was in Walnut Creek, then perhaps Reno. He's a third. . . .

Still, only 18 players, as Ralston was a coach.

Yost, Camp, Warner, and Shaughnessy all coached at Stanford and are all inductees as well.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 03-24-2023

Ralston wasn’t one. Sorry
One more

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - terry - 03-25-2023

Chris Burford?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 03-25-2023

Thanks Terry is Burford.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Mick - 03-25-2023

I might suggest that we add Ralston to the list. He was inducted in 1992.

Inductee | John R. Ralston 1992 | College Football Hall of Fame (cfbhall.com)

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 03-25-2023

Sorry, I read too fast. You were limiting it to Stanford players, not Stanford players & coaches. Mea culpa.

Which batter hit into the most triple plays in his career? Hint: He was an infielder who participated in three triple plays of his own.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 03-25-2023

Brooks Robinson

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BostonCard - 03-25-2023

Speaking of triple plays, which San Francisco reliever entered the game with two men on and no outs, and ended the inning in a single pitch by inducing a triple play?

BC

Great question.  I’ll be very impressed if anyone gets this one.  (I looked it up since I had no idea)
