Why all the injuries in the last few years? Surely at a school with a great medical facility and boodles of cash why can’t Stanford find a strength coach worth his calories. And why can’t the recruiting department find big mean guys like Mauro, DeCastro and Murphy?
And why are you paying a coach nine million to supervise a disaster?
All very good questions, Phogge-Horn.

Defense was not the reason we lost this one
Also, Anderson has in the past been quite aggressive. He was the DC in the PartyInTheBackfield days too
I just think he lacks the talent to do it, which is in part his responsibility too

Posty.

I would be "giddy" if Shaw had enough self-knowledge to see that he is not the guy to rebuild the program at the university he professes to love, and makes way for a fresh, bottoms-up restart with dignity and grace. Instead, he adjusts his blinders, grits his teeth and grinds away at the same thing(s), faithful that his ship is bound to come in. I'm a person of hope, not faith. Hope never disappoints. Faith? I like this definition: It is the belief in something--anything--in the utter absence of any supporting evidence.

I was surprised this morning to see TCU let go Patterson

He'll obviously be given at least one more year, but he needs to be told to fire some coaches like Harbaugh did and bring in an OC with fresh ideas. Gottafiretavita, baby.

IMHO right now the OL is the issue. Obviously both Shaw and Tavita Pritchard bear responsibility there, but the OL coach is most proximate. Fixing the OL is job 1, 2, ... The DL can't be fixed very quickly because we won't have the bodies immediately available. That situation requires watching to ensure when the reinforcement arrive they will be effective, but right now the OL is killing our offense.
We can't run, the defense knows it, and they concentrate on our short passing game. We don't have enough speed to really have a "long" passing game, and our pass protection isn't reliable enough anyway. The defensive congestion requires McKee to be absolutely perfect on every pass, which nobody can do. He will get picked off, which makes him think too much and be indecisive. Vicious circle. The only way to get out of this mess is fix the OL. You can't scheme your way out of this situation. You need some OL guys to make some plays. If the coaches can't fix this, they better be interviewing, because things won't get better.

And, what I see, which makes it a spot-on coaching issue, is that they are getting worse, not better.

Shaw made Pritchard OC. To fire him would be tantamount to Shaw admitting that he blundered. Unlikely to happen.
