Stanford takes the first two sets. Demaria leads the team in kills with 9. Andrew having herself a block party; she’s one off her career high.

This should have been a sweep. Sigh. Not good volleyball late in the 3rd set. Only hitting 0.196 for the match.

We were up 19-14 and I turned away for a minute… ugh. We wound up losing the third set 32-30.
On the plus side, Andrew is up to 17 kills, 12 blocks and a .500 hitting percentage.

Yes, we should have been at the game. Then we would not have to have listened to the two announcers. If they were broadcasting on both radio and television, they were really bad. If they were television only, they were atrocious. They did not realize we viewers are not blind. The principal announcer spoke at least three times more than he should have. His up and down voice was shrill about minor points. His repetitive, repetitive hagiographic comments about players, especially about Lizzy, who was, over and over, "unbelievable" and "unstoppable," were irritating. The difference in volume between the announcer and the commentator, who sounded alike, was frustrating.
If they are student announcers, they might listen to David Flemming, the Giants' announcer, who -- when he was a Stanford student sports announcer -- was a hundred times better.
Yesterday, our only solution was to turn off the sound. In the future, our only solution is to make the one-way three hour drive and attend all not most games in person. Perhaps, that was Stanford's intent in inflicting these two on us.
I hate to be the scold, but, how do we tell the proper person, we deserve far, far better.
"Sally sees sea shells," they kept saying. Arrrggghhh.
P.S. If you were there in person and are curious about the announcers, you of course can watch and hear on ESPN ACCnx Stanford for a few minutes. The match itself of course was disappointing..

I was at the WVB game. Because of the audio the arena wants to impose on the audience, I try to always wear noise canceling earbuds and listen to anything else. Mostly I listened to KZSU broadcast of the WSoc game. But during its halftime, I listened to KZSU WVB broadcast. That announcer was quite decent. (The KZSU WSoc announcer was not very good IMO. But it was worth what I paid for it)

Was I disappointed that they went to 32-30 and lost Set 3? Last night, in the moment, definitely.
Having just finished my significantly discounted lunch at Chick-fil-a, today, however, I’m feeling a little better about it… :-)

Yeah, our first match (against Wisconsin); we lost the first set (badly), won the second set (barely), and then won the third set solidly and crushed them in the fourth set.

Having your OHs and OPP hit .138, .128 and .050 probably isn’t a winning formula most matches.
Blowing a 17-11 lead (or 20-15 later) against an inferior team isn’t a great look either. Still watching but the passing has remained mostly solid in set 3. Setting - not so much. Lots of tips and rolls and weak swings because it’s all the hitter has. Middles can’t take balls away from setters either. SFU did a great job of tooling the block across the later part of the set.

I should see if noise cancelling helps. I ended up putting in my foam earplugs yesterday to stop the headache and preserve the hearing I have left. The PA is just insanely loud.

Where is that promotion documented? I saw it mentioned at the game, but I can't find it mentioned anywhere online.
What are the terms (app required, days after game, etc)?
One game only? All home games?
