Thanks, yes, at this point there's zero point in arguing whether it's too late or should have happened sooner - we are where we are and the only question is what to do NOW.
I will write to the AD and President tonight. I am vaguely tempted to write to Tara too but I'm not sure if that would help or hurt. Does anyone have any sense at all about what she knows about all this? My sense is that other than coming to games she has stayed fairly removed from the program because of strict rules about number of coaches at practices, etc., so it's actually conceivable she had limited insights into the specific allegations at issue.

I think it's been mentioned Tara has tried to distance herself to allow Kate to run the program as she sees fit. I would email all three. Thanks, Bob. I will email all four. I think the key at this point is just to recognize there's not a viable path forward and that as fans, we are concerned about continuing to support and attend a program that is clearly not doing justice but its student-athletes. I love Stanford sports but they will always be students first in my eyes, and that is as concerning as abstract portal losses.

Minor nit, but have any of the athletes publicly alleged abuse? The only thing I’ve seen is reporting from the Twitter account, which though credible IMHO, is not the same as an athlete making a statement (or worse, dropping a lawsuit).
Also, if you identified your graduation year, there’s a not insignificant chance that a determined associate AD can put 2 and 2 together.

I’ve heard a bit of stuff, that I’d prefer not to share because it was shared in confidence. It’s hard for me to accept any of it, but we are not losing only bench players to the portal. We’re losing 3 starters along with Harper, Carly and Mary Ashley. This isn’t about playing time. There’s a lot going on and it needs to be resolved and addressed quickly.

I could only speak to what I have seen/experienced, but that it made me more likely to believe that the rumors (and/or that left unsaid in the portal-bound statements) were disturbingly on-target.

Jabir should know her hoops. From her bio:
“… Jabir also has experience as a former assistant women’s basketball coach during her time at Dayton, Cleveland State (2006-09) and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (2002-04).

of course tara knows what's going on. she attends games, so she witnessed at least the parts we all saw: the clumsy offense, the failure to play the subs even in garbage time. she must be heartbroken for kate - and embarrassed. you build your house by hand. after 35 years you retire and move to something smaller and simpler. after 2 years, you drive by to look at your beautiful place, and the new owners have painted the painstakingly stained natural wood siding purple.
here's what i wrote to donahoe, copy to levin:
i'm a 35-year women's basketball season ticket holder.
i trust you are aware of the impending collapse of the storied stanford women's basketball program. despite a talented roster, the season was a bust, and players are leaving in droves.
nil, transfers, and our admissions requirements present hurdles, but other top academic schools, such as duke and vanderbilt, are doing quite well in women's basketball. national champion ucla has 2 starters who transferred in with 3.9 gpa's at their previous colleges.
there may still be time to talk players like lara somfai and nunu agara, who have entered the portal but not yet signed with another school, into staying.
therefore, may i suggest you appoint someone of stature to talk to all the players immediately to hear their points of view and their proposed remedies. these are, after all, smart young women.
i'm thinking of someone like andrew luck, so i wonder if nneka ogwumike might be interested. she just finished negotiating the new wnba contract on behalf of the players; so she may have time available.

She attempted 124 threes this past season, and made 36. To my eye, many of those threes were pure free lance, not the play drawn up.
By comparison, Nneka shot only 28 threes in her entire LSJU career, Chiney 19, Appel just 3. Brink shot 177 threes, made less than 30%, and has endorsements, tv commercials and magazine covers.

I love Lara's game and was hoping she'd land at Duke or UCLA. Coach Kara and Coach Cori are outstanding mentors and understand how to utilize talent and support them as young women. Having said that, excited that Lara will be playing for Coach Campbell. There are many TCU haters across the country who call "The Horned Frogs" 'Transfer City', but in this age of the portal and NIL, Coach Campbell understood very early there would be no going back to the old days and he has taken advantage of what the game has become and has used the portal effectively (in his 3 years at TCU), to develop some high-performing teams.
Coach Campbell also understands how to use and develop talent. Lara will be in good hands.

Could someone summarize the allegations about the coaching staff and alleged abuse? I have reread this thread and cannot find the quotations that others seem to have access to.
Hard for me to believe, but I have been surprised before.
In my mind, Tempie would be the assistant most capable of taking over for a year. Not sure she would want that, though. I get the impression that we had to woo her back from private life to get her to come back for her second stint.
