4* OT Isaiah Garcia will announce his commitment on Saturday, July 29th, at 6PM MT. It is expected that his decision will be between Oregon and Stanford.

fingers crossed.

RE: Class of 2024 - MV72018 - 07-29-2023

While I hope it’s Stanford, since he’d probably improve the O line, I doubt it will be the Cardinal. Utah or Oregon is more likely, with “closer-to-home” being a possible tipping factor.

RE: Class of 2024 - BobK - 07-29-2023

Garcia stays home. It’s Utah

RE: Class of 2024 - Langdude - 07-29-2023

Bummer. Good for him to stay close to family and play on a competitive team. But bummer. Could have used more restocking of the OL.

Still a great recruiting class under difficult circumstances.

RE: Class of 2024 - SkiBum80 - 08-10-2023

Given the current state of affairs of imploding PAC X, and Stanford's really depressing position and conference prospects at this time, and before it is too late due to reconsidering recruits and possibly even coaches, I want to emphasize what an enormous success Coach TT achieved to put Stanford into the national top 20 in recruiting classes for 2024 (per 247 sports).
I tip my cap to the incredibly hard and well-done work I can just imagine went on behind the scenes to achieve this spectacular result.
I say it now with the bittersweet understanding that the follow through and expectation of ever repeating this great result balances precariously on a knife's edge with mostly a cavernous abyss awaiting the plunge in either direction.

RE: Class of 2024 - MVDan - 08-30-2023

OT Kai Greer has decommitted from Stanford this morning per his X feed. Will announce his new commitment to his new school tonight.

IMO, anyone who decommits from Stanford to attend the University of Arkansas is not Stanford material and obviously doesn’t give a hoot about academics. Strange decision. After football, what is he going to do with a bachelors degree from UArk? Obviously, I fully expect the chorus of benign posters who will post the usual relativistic defense of his decision, which of course he has every right to make. I will say that if he’s not a very keen student it’s probably in his best interest to jump ship now rather than struggle downtream. Some get the 40-year-decision point, others don’t. I read his statements about his switch and they are vapid and devoid of any content. Just the usual boilerplate. No indication whatsoever of why he bailed out of Stanford, not even the classic "I wanted to stay close to home so my parents could come watch me play." Good luck to KG but color me unimpressed.

I really hope our recruits don't see this.

If recruits cared about what one individual person said on a given message board, they wouldn’t commit anywhere.

While true, we can do without academic elitism that is unwarranted.

Per Kevin Borba:
Three-star linebacker Brandon Booker, who actually flipped his commitment from Baylor to Stanford took to the app formerly known as Twitter to announce he was backing off his pledge. Booker was one of the first commits that Stanford landed in the month of June, which ended up totaling well over 20. Based on his social media feed, the Texas native has some interest in playing for the Texas Longhorns or for Coach Prime over at Colorado.

Please do not use that as a source.

Quote:"I felt like the school wasn't for me and I didn't want to be that far from home," Booker told VYPE. Booker's decision to de-commit comes just over three months after his decision to de-commit from Baylor before committing to Stanford.
...
Booker cleared the air with VYPE on Monday morning: "I'm not looking to re-commit to the Bears.
...
"My goals are to do better than I did last season, win state again, and go to a college I'm comfortable at.""

Booker was an academic casualty. He just committed to SMU.

Excellent outing for Stanford QB commit Elijah Brown last nite.

The better he does, the less likely we can keep him.  Double edged sword.

Disagree. He had offers from all the big boys and turned them down to come to Stanford. (He's an outstanding student).
The way we lose him, IMO, is make him sit on the bench for a year. TT needs to find a way to get him on the field immediately.
