Sorry. I tested, using the link from my post, and it went through for me, but maybe that's because I have a subscription. At any rate, if you can find a copy of the print edition, the article is worth reading. Several pages long with lot of text as well as photos, focused mostly on Cam and Haley, but also Tara and rest of the team, much about how they reacted emotionally to the loss to U Conn in the final four in April and had the strength to still feel good about themselves and their season.
No worries, I was just bummed I couldn't read it.

The Cardinal W Pass now offers tickets for WBB. I just used 2 of my 3 reservations for the South Carolina and Tennessee games.
The other will cycle through the games I may attend but only one at a time.

Just to nitpick, she's Agnes Emma-Nnopu, so calling her "Emma" is a bit odd.

One thing for sure: we are going to get pressed forever and a day, until our PG play (whether Haley or someone else) proves it can handle it. Then we can start the conversation on offense.
Any coach watching film of Haley’s relatively high dribble is going to try to disrupt that. Here’s hoping for a Nicole Powell flashback.
Hoping that one of the freshmen or Harriel (though I think of her more as a #2 guard) can become that PG to effectively handle what will be continued pressing, but until then I'd like to see help for Haley and have a passing outlet for her near mid-court (Brink) who can handle the ball well and get it back to Haley with hopefully plenty of time to set up the offense. Watching the team last season scrambling at times to move the ball over mid-court and valuable time lost I'm sure made all of us anxious, but I'm confident Tara and staff already have a Plan A, a Plan B, and maybe more to minimize the problem.
hope so since this has been a problem for us for a number of years. And while Haley can 'set up' the offense once we're past mid-court, I have little confidence in her ability to handle well enough to get it across midcourt when pressed. Hoping to be surprised!

A long-time Stanford fan I told me that members of the Buck Cardinal Club received invitations to attend an open practice @ Maples on November 1st. around 6pm, followed by a 6:30pm reception.
I can only speak about the recent past when season ticket holders like myself were also invited.
Anyone know whether season ticket holders will be invited this time? Thanks.

Yes there’s a Buck Cardinal function on November 1 that includes a 30 minute practice. It seems nothing for season tix holders

Lepolo is a true point guard with a very good handle and vision. The main question mark about her is whether she can shoot well enough to prevent defenses from sagging off her.

I thought I was a Buck/Cardinal club member, but I didn't receive an invite.
Nor I.
We got an invite, but it wasn't clear just what who was getting them. It began, "In appreciation for your support of the Buck/Cardinal Club and Stanford Women's Basketball, we invite you . . . "
Invite was received via email on Oct 3, event is Nov 1, beginning with an open practice at 6:00, then a student-athlete panel at 6:30, followed by a reception in Arrillaga.

Interesting that season ticket holders were not included in the practice/reception. I don't know how many Buck-Cardinal Club members will show up on Nov. 1st. but I would have thought having more loyal fans @ Maples showing support for the team would be viewed positively, especially by the players.
I wonder if there was thought to opening practice for both groups. but keep the reception to Buck-Cardinal folks since seating would be limited.

I'm still puzzled why I am apparently not in the Buck/Cardinal club anymore. I do have a receipt for my donation for the WBB banquet that says it was a Buck/Cardinal club donation. Also I got emails September 2 and 9 telling me "This year, at home football games, we will recognize your support of Cardinal student-athletes with a decal that you can wear. Visit the Buck/Cardinal Club table near Gate 4 and show this email to receive your decal."
Maybe it is a mistake that many of us didn't get invites... Has anyone else who is surprised they didn't get an invite emailed to ask about it?
I've just sent an email to the Buck/Cardinal club and Eileen Roche. I'll see if I get a response.

An Open Practice for all was announced today on the SWBB FaceBook site, presumably for Season Ticket Holders. It stated:
Cardinal and White Scrimmage
Maples Pavilion
Saturday, October 29
Doors open at 11AM.
Since it was a general invitation made on a social media site, I would assume that all ticket holders and all other fans following Stanford Women's Basketball would be welcome. It appears to be the same type of open practice session that we all have enjoyed each year. In the past, I don't recall any registration requirement or check-in at the door, so I would assume that all one has to do is show up to attend.
There is another event that same week, being sponsored by the Buck Cardinal Club, that is a formal reception for donors. The attendance of that event appears to be capped off by one's level of contribution to the Buck Cardinal Club. I would guess that, if a person felt that they were mistakenly left off of the list, they would be best served by inquiring through the Buck Cardinal Club.
I would expect that Season Ticket Holders will be apprised of the Open Practice on October 29th through other public media. The Open Scrimmage has always been a welcomed event! I hope to see everyone there!

One more tidbit: the Nov 1 event is for Buck/Cardinal donors at the $500 level and above.
I'll be happy attending the regular open practice with the rest of the hoi polloi. :-)

I was aware of Tara's initiative and money in setting up this program. She has talked about the decline in women coaches in WBB and this was her effort to reverse that trend and in other sports too. I presume that after she set up the awards that they are given out independent of Tara's personal involvement, but what a great program and worthy cause. And of course if Tara was actually involved in selecting the recipients of the award, then it would not surprise me one bit that she might help out Cal. She has done so before with recruiting, and there are many coaching stories where Tara helps out other programs than her own, just because she wants to grow the game and is unselfish with her time and influence.
